Cao Dingwang, named Danzhai, was born in the 46th year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1618 AD). He was an ancient Chinese Mohist. He was also known as the southern and Northern Cao together with Cao Sugong. He was also an official.

Cao Dingwang was born Qiyi. He was able to write at the age of several years. He was a scholar at the age of 20. He was elected in the 11th year of Shunzhi (1654 A.D.) and Xu yuanwenbang Jinshi in the 16th year of Shunzhi (1659 A.D.). After three years of study in the Chinese secret court, he was appointed the head of the Shanxi Department of the Ministry of punishment and was promoted to wailang, a member of the Shaanxi department. In the fifth year of Kangxi reign (1667 AD), he served as the prefect of Huizhou Prefecture. In a few days, the governors were transferred one after another, and the new governor arrived. Dingwang failed because of his intention to win the third rank of nobility and returned to his hometown. In the 10th year of Kangxi (1674 AD), "San Francisco" was not pacified, and the rebel Geng Jimao made trouble in Fujian. In the 17th year of Kangxi (1678 AD), Dingwang was used as the magistrate of Guangxin Prefecture in Jiangxi Province.
