Shiyan? He was born in Kaifeng, Henan Province. He was a minister in the Northern Song Dynasty.

In the second year of Yuanfeng (1079), Emperor Shenzong of the Song Dynasty, he won the first prize in the examination and was awarded Yingzhou magistrate. He served as secretary Zhengzi, Jixian Xiaoli and Zuoshi member wailang. He was dismissed for dereliction of duty. From Jixian college management, to point Hedong prison. He accepted the reward of Liao state without authorization, hid it but did not report it, and dismissed his official again. Huizong ascended the throne (1101) and was granted the title of wailang, a member of the Ministry of official affairs. Life of the characters

Shiyan is a studious boy. After the number one scholar, he was awarded Li Yingzhou magistrate, and became the Secretary of the provincial Zhengzi. Complete works of Huang Tingjian

Shi Yan, the number one scholar of the Northern Song Dynasty and Minister of the Ministry of industry, compiled Huang Tingjian's works into a complete collection of Huang Tingjian's works.
