Fang Xing (1915.05-2000.06.07) was born in Changzhou. In August 1937, he joined the National Salvation Association of Shanghai cultural circles. The next year, he studied in the Social Science Institute of Hujiang University (later changed into a social science college), accepted the party's training and education, and served as the chairman of the society. They published comprehensive semimonthly and learning semimonthly to encourage young people to love their motherland, pursue progress, and mobilize them to engage in Anti Japanese work in the Anti Japanese Democratic base areas. He joined the Communist Party of China in December 1941. In the spring of the next year, he was assigned to Huainan Anti Japanese Democratic base to participate in the preparation of Jianghuai University and the relocation of Nantong University. In 1943, he was ordered to return to Shanghai to prepare for the construction of evolvable pharmaceutical factory, which produced drugs and transported them to the base areas. after the victory of the Anti Japanese War, he served as the new culture semimonthly and the news semimonthly. At the same time, he was engaged in the confidential work of Shanghai Underground Party leading organs and the business of Shanghai Dongfang and Ruiming companies. After the liberation of Shanghai, he served as the Secretary General of Shanghai Administration for Industry and Commerce and took part in the takeover. Later, he participated in the preparation for the establishment of the Shanghai People's Procuratorate office and was appointed Deputy procurator general at the beginning of 1951. In July 1952, he served as member and Secretary General of Shanghai Political and legal work committee. In the spring of 1954, he served as the full-time secretary general of the political and Legal Commission of Shanghai municipal government. In January 1955, he was still Deputy procurator general and Deputy Secretary of the Party group. In July 1957, he was transferred to the post of deputy director of the Bureau of culture and a member of the party leading group. From 1982 to 1988, he concurrently served as deputy director of Shanghai Municipal Committee for the preservation of cultural relics, member of the Standing Committee of Shanghai Municipal Federation of Social Sciences and director of the history society. In October 1988, after the implementation of the independent system of the Shanghai Cultural Administration Commission, he served as a consultant. After arriving at the Bureau of culture, he also served as secretary of the Party group of Shanghai Art Association, deputy director of the Editing Committee of rare Chinese ancient books bibliography, President of Shanghai Library Society, member of Shanghai local chronicles Compilation Committee, member of Shanghai party history collection Committee, consultant of Shanghai CPPCC Cultural Research Committee and executive director of Shanghai CPPCC friends society, and part-time professor of History Department of Fudan University. He retired in July 1995. He is a member of the first to sixth Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference and a member of the fourth to sixth Standing Committee of the Shanghai Municipal Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference.
