Xu Boyang

Xu Boyang (December 26, 1927 - January 18, 2019), male, Han nationality, resident of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, now lives in Shenzhen. The eldest son of Jiang Biwei and Xu Beihong, sister Xu Jingfei (formerly Xu Lili). Xu Boyang was born to Xu Beihong and his first wife Jiang Biwei.

He received a letter from his son Xu Boyang, who had no news from the army, said that he had fought with the army in Burma, and had fought bloody battles in the primitive forest near Myitkyina and the enemy Japan. In his childhood, Xu Boyang was also taught by his father about the basics of painting and calligraphy. In middle school, a freehand landscape painting was publicly displayed. Later, around 1948, he entered the Department of Western painting in Peking. But before long, he suddenly found that his interest was music. Singing could express his ideal and ambition. So Xu Boyang, who studied western painting for two years, changed from western painting to music.

Love music instead of painting and calligraphy

Without consulting with his father, Xu Beihong inspected the classroom that day and found that his son was not there, so he asked the students, "where is Boyang?" The student said, "he's transferred to the music department."

Xu Beihong didn't get angry because Boyang didn't discuss with him. He respected his son's choice. "Learning painting is a hard work. We should not force ourselves, including our relatives." Xu Beihong once said so.

Later, Xu Boyang studied music and got to know Xie fengzeng because of his music. Xie fengzeng is a piano teacher who plays piano well. Their son Xu Xuejun also studied music and studied piano at the Hong Kong Academy for performing arts.

The name of the Xu family is very interesting. Xu Boyang's eldest son is Xu Xiaoyang, obviously because of her father's "Yang"; and Xiao Yang's daughter is Xu Weiwei, who is Jiang Biwei's "Wei", and Jiang is her great grandmother.

Xu Boyang's sister, Xu Lili, graduated from the middle school attached to Central University in 1948 and was admitted to Jinling Women's University.
