Zhang Qianyi got a job in the Ministry of rites after he passed the entrance examination. As an old scholar, he devoted all his mind to writing books and setting up theories. He didn't miss officialdom at all. Kangxi saw that he was rich and talented, so he asked him to be the teacher of the fourth elder brother and the fourteenth elder brother. Zhang Qianyi was very strict in teaching, did not avoid the powerful, and regarded the prince as a civilian. One time, the fourth elder brother did not study hard, and he was punished by kneeling on bricks. When it came to Kangxi, Longyan was very angry and said, "my son has learned to be the son of heaven! "This old gentleman from Jiaozhou, Shandong Province, only knew death reason, but he was shocked by Long Yan and retorted:" learn to be the king of Yao and Shun, not learn to be the king of Zhou and Jie! " Although Kangxi was angry in his heart, he had to admit that what the old scholar said was reasonable, so he had to brush away. Kangxi found that he was very poor, so he wanted him to make some money, so he arrested a corrupt official, and claimed that only the master of the fourth elder brother could be released, which meant to let Zhang Qianyi make some money. The family members of the corrupt officials immediately took a thousand taels of silver tickets to meet Zhang Qianyi in the Yongwang mansion. As soon as he entered the room, Zhang Qianyi was absorbed in reading a book. Someone handed the money ticket up and explained why. Zhang Qianyi, keeping his eyes on the book, brushed the silver note with his sleeve to the ground and said, "it's time to kill.". When Kangxi knew about it, he sighed: "Alas, this Shandong scholar is really a nerd! I wanted him to be an official for a few years, but it seems that he is not the right person to be an official. Let him teach all his life. " So Kangxi called him into the temple, encouraged him, and gave him many gifts, and then let him go home to teach. When Zhang Qianyi heard that he was allowed to return to his hometown of Jiaozhou, he happily kowtowed three times to Kangxi. After Kangxi's death, the fourth elder brother Yinzhen became emperor for Yongzheng. After Yongzheng ascended the throne, he suddenly thought of his mentor Zhang Qianyi. If he hadn't been strict in that year and made himself learn more knowledge and truth than others, how could he have won the throne of the emperor over his outstanding brothers? He issued an imperial edict to let the teacher go to Beijing to be an official, so that he could enjoy several years of glory and wealth. Zhang Qianyi, who was far away in Jiaozhou, was shocked when he heard that Yongzheng was going to call him to Beijing. He thought that he was too strict with the fourth elder brother.
