Sun town is subordinate to Pucheng County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the east of Pucheng County, adjacent to the West Bank of Luohe River in the East, facing Duanjia town of Dali County across Luohe River in the southeast, Longyang town in the south, Chunlin town in the West and Luobin town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 16 kilometers, and the maximum distance from north to south is 24.7 kilometers, with a total area of 104.65 square kilometers.
As of June 2020, sun town has jurisdiction over 2 communities and 23 administrative villages. As of 2018, the population of sun town registered residence was 72820. In 2011, the total output value of agriculture and industry reached 150 million yuan and 220 million yuan respectively.
Historical evolution
It was named Sunjiazhuang because of the first residence of the sun family, and later evolved into its current name.
In 1030, the sun family built castles and gathered together.
In 1593, it was named Sunjiazhuang.
Qing Kangxi ten years (1671), is xiangluan township.
In 1928, it belonged to Pucheng District II.
In 1939, it was renamed Luoxi town.
In 1946, it was renamed Sunzhen.
In October 1949, six districts of sun town were set up.
In February 1956, sun town was established.
In October 1958, it belonged to Chaomei commune.
In August 1961, Sunzhen commune was established.
In 1984, it was renamed Sunzhen township. In May of the same year, it was changed to town system.
In January 2011, Dongchen town and Heping Road Temple were merged.

Sunzhen is located in the transition zone between the Weihe plain and the Loess Plateau, with Jinshu mountain in the north and Luohe River in the south. The terrain is high in the northeast and low in the southwest. The main landforms in the territory are loess tableland in the north and central part and Weihe plain in the south. The highest point is 595 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is 370 meters above sea level.
