The first imperial edict was not issued
In the third year of Chunhua of Song Dynasty (992), song Weigan, the transportation envoy of Shaanxi Province, recommended Zhongfang to the imperial court. Emperor Taizong of Song Dynasty issued an imperial edict to summon Zhongfang. Zhong Fang's mother reproached him and said, "I often advise you not to gather together to give lectures. What else do you write when you are in seclusion? If you are really appointed by the imperial court and can no longer live in seclusion, I will leave you to live in seclusion in the mountains alone. " After listening to his mother's words, Zhong Fang told the imperial court that he was ill and did not leave. Zhongfang's mother burned his pen and inkstone, and moved with him to a more remote and inaccessible mountain. Emperor Taizong of the Song Dynasty was deeply moved by the integrity of the hermit. He ordered Jingzhao government to give him money to support his mother. He did not force the hermit to be an official, and ordered officials to visit him every year. In the first year of Xianping (998) of emperor Zhenzong of Song Dynasty, Zhong Fang's mother died. After three days, Zhong Fang didn't let water in and lived in a hut beside his mother's tomb. Song Zhuo, the academician of Hanlin, Qian Ruoshui, the academician of Jixian academy, and zhizhizhigao Wang Yufan reported to the imperial court that Zhongfang was unable to bury his mother because of poverty. Zhenzong issued an edict to grant Zhongfang 30000 yuan, 30 pieces of cloth and 30 pieces of rice to help with the funeral.
No more edicts
In the fourth year of Xianping (1001), Zhang Qixian, Minister of the Ministry of war, told the emperor that Zhongfang had lived in seclusion for 30 years, but had not been in the city for 15 years. His filial piety was pure enough to inspire the common customs, and his simple and quiet integrity was no less than that of the ancients. So Zhenzong ordered the Luoyang government to send people to the mountain where Zhongfang lived in seclusion, and invited him to the imperial court. The officials brought 50000 yuan of luggage money, but Zhongfang refused and didn't leave.
Three imperial edicts
In the fourth year of Xianping (1002), Zhang Qixian was appointed as the governor of Jingzhao. He once again recommended planting and releasing to the imperial court, and asked the imperial court to praise him. The imperial edict of Zhenzong said: "Zhongfang lives in seclusion in the hills and countryside, has a broad knowledge of ancient and modern times, and is respected by the village for his filial piety and fraternity. It has the legacy of the ancients and is the common way of a gentleman. I have read the memorials of the prefect for many times, and the behavior of planting and releasing shows the wind of seclusion. Therefore, I hope that planting and releasing will help our Dynasty to continue the peaceful situation. Now Zhou Wang, an official of worship, was sent to take an imperial edict, summon seeds and put them into the court, and give them 100 pieces of cloth and 100000 yuan of money. " In September, Zhongfang was ordered to enter the imperial court. When he came to the Chongzheng Hall to meet the emperor, he was still wrapped in a headscarf. The emperor ordered him to sit down and talk back and ask him about civil affairs and frontier defense. Zhong Fang said: "a wise king governs the country by his love for the people. He can only educate and influence the people slowly." For other questions of Zhenzong, Zhongfang was modest and did not answer them. On that day, Zhongfang was appointed as zuoshijian and Zhizhao Wenguan, and was given a headscarf, clothes and a belt. He lived in duting post and was entertained by senior officials. The next day, the seed put on the table to thank the emperor for his kindness. The emperor knew that Zhong Fang went to make friends with Chen yaosou, and ordered him to advise him. He also said to the prime minister, "I am looking for people with outstanding talents to expand the scope of seeing and hearing as a reference for governing the country. Like Zhong Fang, since he is not happy to be an official, he can also satisfy his request. " Zhongshu Province issued an imperial edict, and Zhongfang said, "I live in the mountains when I am ill. The emperor's kindness has offered me many courtesies. As a rock ape and a stream bird, I dare not take salary as an official. However, the emperor is modest in his treatment of scholars and worries about people's food at night. He does not dare to regard fetters as his thoughts. " So he issued an imperial edict not to listen to the humility of Zhong Fang. A few days later, Zhenzong summoned Zhongfang again and bestowed him with Feiyi, Xiangjian, Xidai, Yinyu, and the five character poem written by the Emperor himself. He also bestowed a private house in the first district of zhaoqingfang, with common utensils such as curtains, five hundred taels of silver and three hundred thousand taels of silver. Thank you the next day, give to eat in the Academy, from this kind of put many times by the emperor summoned countermeasures.
Retreat and Pilgrimage
In the spring of the sixth year of Xianping (1003), Zhongfang expressed his gratitude and asked to return to Gushan temporarily. Zhenzong granted his request. When Zhong Fang was about to leave, he was promoted to a living room. The emperor ordered the pavilion officials to hold a banquet in qionglin garden to bid farewell to him. The emperor rewarded him with three chapters of seven character poems, and all the people at the banquet also wrote Fu. In October, the envoys were sent to Zhongnanshan to offer their consolation. They drew a picture of Lin Quan and other places where Zhong Fang lived and presented it to the emperor. The emperor issued an imperial edict to urge Zhong Fang to make a pilgrimage. Zhong Fang replied that he was ill. In October of the first year of Jingde, Emperor Zhenzong of the Song Dynasty (1004), Zhong Fang came to the temple for a pilgrimage. He said that it was a long time for him to return to the mountain. He was willing to pay no salary on a monthly basis, but the emperor issued an imperial edict. Zhongfang once wrote poems for reading books. The emperor said, "the style and format of Zhongfang's poems surpass those of the ancients. It is said that after he returned to the mountain, he lived alone all day and meditated silently in a room. The happiness of mountains and rivers is also an innate character. Every time I ask, I will deal with it according to the classics, which is of great benefit. So I treat him favorably because it is used to stimulate the impetuous people to rise up. " Every time Zhongfang returned to the capital, there were many new apprentices from Qin Yong and other places, so they had to attend classes. In the second year of Jingde (1005), he was promoted to the right Jianyi doctor. The above table requests to go to Songshan Shaolin Temple to recuperate. The Emperor allowed his request and ordered Henan government to check. Wang ruoqin, his on duty bachelor, Sheren, and Shi system all held a banquet in advance. After the banquet was over, it was given to Wang ruoqin's home. It's a kind of etiquette to put on a table and ask for a farewell party. The emperor sent eunuchs many times to express sympathy and give tea medicine. In the winter of the second year of Jingde (1005), Zhongfang came to the court again. In the third year of Jingde (1006), when his brother died, he asked to resign and return to Zhongnanshan for burial. The emperor summoned Zhongfang and gave a banquet to give poems. There are five or six thatched cottages planted on the mountain, eating wild vegetables and buckwheat. In the above table, the notes on the sounds and meanings of Emperor Taizong's imperial books and the historical records of the Scriptures all satisfy him. In October, when he came to the imperial court again, the emperor said to the prime minister, "Zhong Fang has always regarded his affairs as lofty. He often asks questions, which can be adopted. Although the imperial court granted him a knighthood, he was not able to make a big appointment. At present, people's criticism is not blocked. What they are worried about is that he will be released, accepted, and cherished. " Wenqing, a servant of the imperial edict immediately sent to Zhongfang, said: "I rule the world, I am worried about being diligent, I don't eat until the sun sets in the west, I recruit talented people all over the world, I look for hermits, think about words, and prosper all kinds of achievements. Because you live in seclusion in caves, disappear in noisy and dirty places, track the distant trace of qiweng, one of the four haos in Shangshan, and have the wonderful exercises of Zeng Zi and Yan Hui. It's really in line with my wishes to hold a special ceremony of Ben garden. Every time I have a consultation, I have a complete and detailed answer, which is in line with the truth. If I look at it and adopt it, I have the talent and strategy. I am very open-minded and want to make a big appointment. However, as the situation of the group was not fully known, the order that had been issued was delayed for the time being. Now the four princes are gathering together, thinking of stability and advocating politics
