In 1833, in Taiwei mountain, he became a self-supporting apprentice. After 1850, he successively served as lecturer of Hanyang Chongzheng academy, shengshaoting academy and Shanghai Longmen academy, manager of Suzhou Ziyang academy and President of Dieshan Academy in Xingguo Prefecture. He has successively received the title of Guozijian Xuezhang, the title of Guozijian doctor, the title of wupinqing and the title of guozijiansi. He died in Dieshan Academy in 1904 at the age of 96. Wan's main teaching materials are "the recent thoughts of primary school", "the complete works of Zhu Zi", "the collection of Zhang Yangyuan" and "the general explanation of Zhu Ziyi's Zha Jing Zhuan", which require students to "combine knowledge with practice, and learn with practice". He is the author of ziqiaotongjian outline, Zizhitongjian Zhengbian zhengcuobu, Chunqiu Gujing, and has collated Zhuzi Quanji, Mr. Zhang yangsui Quanji, juexiu Jijie, Xiaoxue Jijie, etc. At the same time, the new Three Character Classic was revised. Based on Zhu Xi's notes to children, he compiled rhymes to children, which is also a famous teaching material for children.
