Wang Ya, a Han nationality in Southern Song Dynasty, was born in Hanyang, Hubei Province, with the word Wanqing. He died in 1260.

In August of 1259, the first year of emperor li Zong's Kaiqing reign, Kublai Khan led the Mongolian army to invade Hubei and Han. Jia Sidao, song Youcheng, led the army to Hanyang to aid Hubei. Wang Yake was in the shogunate of Jia Sidao. Jia Sidao fled from Hanyang to Jiangxia (today's Wuchang), and secretly sent people to Kublai Khan to accept coins to negotiate peace. Kublai Khan was eager to return to the north to fight for the throne, so he withdrew. In December, Jia Sidao concealed his true feelings and intended to report his merits to Lu Bu. Wang Ya rebuked Jia Sidao for cheating the emperor by falsely reporting his military achievements. Jia Sidao was so angry that he killed Wang YALAO.
