Yang Runan, whose birth and death year is unknown, was born in Bixi, Fengshan Town, Hua'an County, Fujian Province.

Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty 15 years (1145) Jinshi, served as Ganzhou, Guangzhou Xueguan, diligent and knowledgeable. Yang Chun praised him as a model for people's study and recommended him as the magistrate of Gutian County. Runan is honest and diligent, determined to learn from ancient sages, especially to organize education as the primary task. Every day he went to Jinye county school to assess the morality of the students and encourage them to study hard and master knowledge. He also recommended excellent scholars from Gutian County to Beijing for examination and interview with the imperial court, and most of them ranked first. Runan County Magistrate period, the construction of the Anfu bridge, 60 Zhang long, for the benefit of future generations. After leaving office in Ru'nan, he returned to his hometown to start a school. He extracted the essence of poetry, spring and autumn, and the golden mean, and compiled thirty essences to teach students as textbooks. When Runan lectured, the door was often filled with people listening. Fu Shilang and Yan Shangshu also paid a visit. Qiu Shenxiang, a student of Runan, compiled the articles compiled by Runan into an anthology. The prime minister at that time wrote a preface to the article. Qingguangxu five years (1897) for Ru Nan Li "shimeifang" in Longxi County 23, four capital (now Huaan County Fengshan Town).
