In the Qing Dynasty, Li Tangjie (1798-1865) was born in nanbaofeng village, Wenxian County, Henan Province. He was a 22-year-old Zhongju and a 25-year-old Jinshi. The next year, he served as the editor of Hanlin Academy. Later, he successively served as Minister of Dali temple, Minister of rites, censor of zuodu, Minister of Hubu, Minister of military aircraft, Minister of industry and Minister of rites.
Life of the characters
Li Tangjie (1798-1865) was named Shunan, Wenyuan and qiangzhai. His posthumous title was Wenqing. He was born in Hanoi of Henan Province (now Wenxian County of Henan Province). He was a Jinshi of renwuke in Daoguang period of Qing Dynasty. He successively served as a scholar of Hanlin academy, editor, servant, Shaoqing of Taichang temple, Minister of work, Minister of rites, Minister of military machinery and Minister of household. During the reign of Daoguang, Li Tangjie was appointed to teach in Heshuo Academy of Wuzhi for 13 years. When Tongzhi ascended the throne, he appointed old ministers. Li Tangjie was ordered to go to the capital to study the policy of governance. His official position was promoted continuously, and he taught the court about the rise and fall of successive dynasties, which was highly appreciated by Tongzhi emperor. When he Guiqing, the governor of Liangjiang, was punished, he strongly advocated severe punishment to clean up the discipline. He was frugal all his life, abided by the principle of honesty and uprightness, and advocated that the funeral should be carried out in a thrifty way. He told his family to be thrifty and gave rice to the poor in Benli. Li Tangjie was deeply responsible since he took part in the major events of the military aircraft center. Even if he felt a little uneasy about some minor events, he was worried and finally became ill. In November 1865, he died in Beijing at the age of 68. The Emperor gave his prince Taibao the posthumous title of "Wenqing".
