Li Peigen, male, born on December 27, 1948 in Wuhan, Hubei Province, is an expert in mechanical manufacturing and automation, academician of Chinese Academy of engineering, Professor, doctoral supervisor and former president of Huazhong University of science and technology.
In 1977, he graduated from Shanghai Institute of textile technology and then worked in Wuhan Light Industry Machinery Factory. In 1981, he graduated from Huazhong Institute of technology and then stayed in the university to teach. In 1983, he went to the United States to study. In 1987, he returned to China after graduating from the University of Wisconsin Madison and continued to work in the first Department of mechanical engineering of Huazhong Institute of technology. He successively served as a lecturer, associate professor, professor and doctoral supervisor He joined the Communist Party of China; from 1995 to 2002, he served as Dean of School of mechanical engineering of Huazhong University of science and technology; from 2002 to 2005, he served as vice president of Huazhong University of science and technology; from 2003, he was elected as academician of Chinese Academy of engineering; from 2005 to 2014, he served as president of Huazhong University of science and technology.
Li Peigen has been engaged in teaching and scientific research in the field of mechanical manufacturing and automation for a long time, and presided over the research and development of CAPP (Computer Aided Process Planning) system.

Since the late 1980s, Li Peigen has been in charge of the research and development of CAPP (Computer Aided Process Planning) in his unit. Through R & D and cooperation with Kaimu company and Tianyu company, he has realized industrialization, and has formed a leading CAPP product with independent copyright in China. He organized the construction of e-works, which has been commercialized. Li Peigen has published nearly 100 scientific papers and 3 monographs.
