Songjing, Nan'ao Island

Song well was built in 1276, the first year of Jingyan in the Southern Song Dynasty. Because of the pursuit of Yuan soldiers, Zhao Shi, the emperor of the Song Dynasty, his younger brother Zhao Min and other royal families and troops stationed here from Fuzhou to Nan'ao. It is said that three wells were dug for drinking, and then the sea was flooded. In the 15th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, this well reappeared. Over the years, it has been a miracle in Nan'ao.

Historical legend

According to records, in May 1276, due to the advance of Yuan soldiers, Lu Xiufu, the Minister of rites, Zhang Shizhong, the great general, and his seven year old brother Zhao Min, the crown prince and Empress Dowager Yang Shufei left Nanao and stayed in aoqian village. They dug three song wells for the Emperor, ministers, soldiers and horses .

These three wells were originally on the hillside. Due to the crustal movement, they gradually sank into the beach sand, so the hillside wells became beach wells, which were mysterious and unpredictable. Moreover, the sea water was still weak, the water was sweet and mellow, and the storage was not rotten for a long time.

Since the 15th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu in the late Qing Dynasty (1889), only Majing and Hujing have been "floating" (exposed during the "7.28" typhoon in 1969, about 20 meters southwest of Majing), and Longjing has disappeared. The present one is Majing, which is known to have surfaced seven times after the sand was dragged by strong winds and waves. Whenever the well "floats", people rush to take the well water home to make tea or collect it. After the well floated again in the autumn of 1984, people used calibration and other methods to keep it from sinking, and built a protective platform to protect it.

Why does a well close to the sea not taste salty for a long time? It is said that after investigation, some people think that from the scientific analysis, at that time, the three wells were dug on the rocks at the edge of the mountain, and they were facing the spring, so the spring water kept flowing. And because there are two kinds of rocks at the bottom of the well, the spring is on the top, and the rocks at the bottom block the penetration of sea water, so the water quality is sweet. When the tide gushes into the well, due to the heavy proportion of sea water, it seeps out from the rock after sinking, and the spring water above is still light.

The magic of Songjing is that although it is located on the beach and is often covered by the tide, the well water is still pure and sweet without salty taste after the tide recedes.

In history, Songjing was often hidden and appeared because of the ebb and flow of the tide. It is said that the well of the Song Dynasty has only been "floating" seven times in the past 700 years. In the autumn of 1984, when the well "floated" again, people used calibration and other methods to keep it from "sinking", and built a protective platform to protect it. As a special scenic spot on Nan'ao Island, Songjing scenic spot was established. The scenic spot is composed of the famous Songjing, Jingting and taizilou ruins.
