Evolution of organizational system
During the southern imperial edict of Tang Dynasty, huilicheng was built, which was translated as "Jianshui" in Chinese and belonged to Tonghai dudufu. During the period of song Dali, it belonged to the ABA Department of Xiushan County. Jianshui Prefecture was set up in the Yuan Dynasty and called Lin'an Prefecture in the Ming Dynasty. During the Qianlong period of Qing Dynasty, Shuizhou was rebuilt as Jianshui County. Lin'an town has always been the seat of the government.
From 1950 to 1957, it was the Fifth District of Jianshui County, with jurisdiction over Lin'an Town, Dongba town and Chenguan town.
