Minhang District Museum of Shanghai was built in March 2003 and officially opened to the public. It is one of the earliest free venues in Shanghai. There are two basic exhibitions in the exhibition hall: Maqiao culture exhibition and Chinese national musical instrument exhibition. Minhang District Museum is now known as the cultural card of Huxi by holding various theme exhibitions, cultural lectures, special activities and other cultural activities to exert its cultural influence, radiation and penetration.

Three permanent exhibition halls
1. Seven hundred years of Shanghai county
The exhibition hall of seven hundred years of Shanghai county in Minhang District Museum covers an area of about 2400 square meters. There are six exhibition areas: preface hall, Southeast Zhuang County, Jianghai Tongjin, Haina Baichuan, independent development and urban-rural integration.
Relying on more than 300 cultural relics of different periods in Shanghai county, the exhibition hall traces the origin from the ancient times to the present by means of holographic projection, multimedia interaction and scene restoration. According to the context of historical development, it shows the ups and downs of Shanghai county in the long history of 700 years, as well as people's production, life and historical and cultural achievements in this land.
The old name of Shanghai was huatinghai, also known as Shangyang or the sea. In the Northern Song Dynasty, there were already Shanghai affairs. After the Southern Song Dynasty, the town of Shanghai was established. In the 29th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1292), Shanghai established a county. Since then, chengjianghai benefits, thousands of people, merchants, complex people, known as Southeast Zhuang county. In 1843, when Shanghai opened as a port, the country began to open and the west wind spread to the East. Science and technology, system, thought and culture came one after another. Factories, banks, schools and bookstores emerged one after another, creating unprecedented prosperity and splendor, and becoming an important base of Chinese revolution. In 1928, the county and city were divided and the special city of Shanghai was established. Shanghai county became a suburban county. Its function changed and the rural appearance changed. After the founding of new China, Shanghai county has developed into a production base of agricultural and sideline products and an industrial satellite city in greater Shanghai. In 1992, Shanghai county and Minhang District merged, and the 700 year history of Shanghai county came to an end.
2. Maqiao Culture Exhibition
Located in Yutang village, Maqiao Town, Minhang District, Shanghai, Maqiao site was announced as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council of the people's Republic of China on March 5, 2013. The cultural remains of Maqiao site in Shanghai can be divided into three stages: the first stage is mainly Liangzhu Culture (5200-4400 years ago), and individual remains can be as early as the transition stage from Songze to Liangzhu. The second stage is Maqiao culture (3900-3200 years ago), which is the largest cultural relic of the site. The third stage is from the spring and Autumn period to the song and Yuan Dynasties.
The exhibition covers an area of about 600 square meters. It mainly displays more than 150 artifacts of Maqiao culture period from 3900 to 3200 years ago. The exhibition is divided into three parts: "living by the sea", "things born at the beginning" and "creating things by art". Through multimedia projection, model, scene restoration and other means, it reproduces the life of the ancestors living near the sea in Maqiao culture period. The exhibition shows the production tools and living utensils used by the ancestors during the Maqiao culture period, so that the audience can identify the unique symbols used by the ancestors to convey the information of production and life, and various patterns used to decorate the utensils, as well as firing the primitive porcelain with practicability and appreciation on the basis of hard pottery. Experience the danger and strangeness of nature, explore the hardship and brilliance of life, and understand the harmonious coexistence between man and nature.
3. Chinese national musical instrument culture exhibition
Based on the performance classification of Chinese national musical instruments "blowing, pulling, playing and playing", and taking the historical development of Chinese national musical instruments for thousands of years as the scroll, the exhibition shows the morphological characteristics and musical style of musical instruments from the three sections of "learning from objects", "watching movies" and "enjoying music", as well as the long history of musical instrument making skills, and presents the characteristics of musical instruments and music Musical instruments and Chinese culture complement each other and coexist.
