Suzhou Police Museum
Suzhou Police Museum is located in Siqian street, Canglang District, Suzhou city. It was founded in Jiangsu Province and Suzhou government. This is a prison set up at the end of the Qing Dynasty, where the prisoners are all death penalty criminals and other important criminals. According to records, there were two rows of nine prisons in the first place, each of which held 20 prisoners and was overcrowded. In 1919, the national government set up a detention center of Jiangsu higher procuratorial Office (court) to detain the criminals who had not been sentenced. In a few years, this small detention house became famous all over the world. From December 30, 1936 to July 31, 1936, Shi Liang, one of the seven gentlemen, was detained in the detention center. Song Qingling and others launched a patriotic prison campaign. They went to Suzhou to invite themselves to prison, and visited Shi Liang in the detention center. From then on, the prison where Shi Liang was once held was called the seven gentlemen 'prison.
Development history
The earliest police organization in Suzhou appeared in the 29th year of Guangxu reign of Qing Dynasty, which was called the general police bureau of Suzhou Province at that time. Since then, it has been renamed as Jiangsu Provincial patrol General Bureau, Jiangsu provincial police office and Jiangsu Provincial patrol department. According to the records, before the revolution of 1911, there were 102 police officers and 1369 police officers in Suzhou, and all kinds of organizations were set up completely.
After the revolution of 1911, Jiangsu announced that it would leave the Qing government and set up the general patrol Bureau in Suzhou. In February of the Republic of China, it was renamed Suzhou police department. In the 16th year of the Republic of China, the third division of the National Revolutionary Army marched into Suzhou from Wujiang, abolished the police department, and established the Public Security Bureau of the temporary administrative committee of Wuxian county. In the 18th year of the Republic of China, it was renamed Suzhou Public Security Bureau. In the 19th year of the Republic of China, Suzhou municipal government abolished it and Suzhou Public Security Bureau merged with Wu County Public Security Bureau, which was renamed Wu County Public Security Bureau. At that time, there were 131 police officers and 1588 police officers. After that, Suzhou was occupied by Japanese invaders. The Wang puppet government set up a number of police agencies in Suzhou. In 1949, Suzhou was liberated. On June 5, Suzhou Public Security Bureau was established at the former site of Wuxian police station in Changchun lane. Since then, the name has been used to this day.

Collection
The name is changeable. What was the police like in those days? There are many precious historical materials in the museum, which can let you know the police of that year.
The first is the Suzhou police regulations formulated in the 29th year of Guangxu. This is the first police charter in Suzhou, which introduces in detail the police work and rest system, case handling system and other historical data. It is said that it is difficult for the whole country to find a similar constitution. Moreover, we can find that the police system was very strict at that time. According to the regulations, police officers who neglect their duties or misbehave, disobey the orders of their superiors, leave their posts for no reason, drink too much, do not go to work on time, extort money, ask for or accept bribes directly or indirectly, falsely accuse others, pretend to be ill, delay treatment after illness, incite other personnel to violate the above provisions and other behaviors deemed inappropriate shall be demoted, demoted, punished A fine or even dismissal.
Then there was a lot of police equipment. We can see that the police at that time mainly used cold weapons, and batons were their main equipment. Guns can not be equipped by ordinary police, and those who have guns are generally senior police officers with positions. This is in contrast to the modern police equipment displayed in the museum at the same time. Looking at those new weapons, all kinds of high-tech equipment, and looking back at the police in those years, the difference between the two is not one or two.
Into history
When we browse history in the museum, we are also walking into history. The elegant demeanor of contemporary Suzhou police is also recorded bit by bit in the museum. In front of a picture of Suzhou police rescuing abducted children, several old police officers whispered: "how many do you know above?" "Oh, more, this is so and so, this is so and so, but they are old!" There are also martyrs Wang Ciping and he bin, whose portraits, together with many of their predecessors, are hanging high on the wall.
What impresses people's memory is the major cases on display. Although some of them are long-standing in our memory, there are still many cases that resonate with us: the Guangming milk poisoning case, the kidnapping of Taiwanese businessmen, the Kunshan drug trafficking case These cases happened after the new century. Many people still remember them, but in a flash, they became history.
Maybe many years later, our posterity will point out in this museum: "it turned out that Suzhou police were like this!"
