The original 108 brick and tile kilns are distributed along Dayao Road on the East Bank of the Grand Canal and the South Bank of bodu port, with a length of about 1.5 km. In the early years of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, the intersection of the ancient canal and bodu port was the distribution center of brick and tile production and trade in Wuxi. As one of the important places of origin of ancient Chinese brick and tile industry, Wuxi brick kiln industry and Wuxi "four wharves" produced at the same time, providing a large number of exquisite bricks and tiles for the construction and development of many historical cities. The bricks used in Nanjing city wall are also produced in Wuxi.
