Historical evolution
Qianfo Mountain was originally called Lishan, Miji mountain in the spring and Autumn period, Mishan in the Warring States period, and shunshan, Miaoshan and Shungengshan in the northern and Southern Dynasties.
During the kaihuang period of the Sui Dynasty, Buddhism prevailed in Shandong Province. Devout Buddhists carved a lot of Buddha statues on the cliff and built a "Thousand Buddha Temple" on the hillside. Since then, the name "Thousand Buddha Mountain" has been widely spread.
During the reign of Zhenguan of Tang Dynasty, the "Thousand Buddha Temple" was rebuilt and renamed "Xingguo Temple".
Since the Yuan Dynasty, temple fairs have been held on March 3 and September 9. The temple was expanded in the Ming Dynasty, and it gradually became a fragrant resort.
In 1959, Qianfo Mountain was built as a park and officially opened to the public, with peach garden, sightseeing cableway, Yingfang garden, Qineng slide, eighteen Arhats, reclining Buddha, Guanyin garden, Shitu garden, pear garden and other scenic spots added.
In 1981, the municipal government assigned the statues of huangshiya, fuhuishan and Kaiyuan Temple of Northern Wei Dynasty in Shannan and the cemetery of 1911 revolutionary martyrs in Shandong to Qianfo Mountain scenic spot in Jinan.
In 1995, Qianfo Mountain scenic spot was listed as one of the seven scenic spots in Shandong Province.
In 2005, Jinan Qianfo Mountain scenic spot was rated as national AAAA scenic spot by the National Tourism Administration.
In March 2017, it was selected into the list of the ninth batch of national scenic spots.

Jinan Qianfo Mountain scenic spot is located at 36 ° 38 ′ 18.60 ″ N and 117 ° 01 ′ 45.37 ″ e, 2.5km away from the center of Jinan City. It is located in the South and east of the center of Jinan City, with an altitude of 285m and an area of 11.46km2 (2013 data).

Jinan Qianfo Mountain area is located in the middle latitude zone. Due to the influence of solar radiation, atmospheric circulation and geographical environment, it belongs to warm temperate semi humid monsoon climate. It is characterized by obvious monsoon, four distinct seasons, dry and less rain in spring, warm and rainy in summer, cool and dry in autumn, cold and less snow in winter. In winter, the Mongolian high is formed in the northern part of the Asian continent, and the Qianfo Mountain in Jinan is controlled by the polar continental air mass. It is often attacked by the cold air from the north, cold and sunny, less rain and snow, and more northerly.

Cherry forest
In the spring of 1993, a cherry blossom forest was built in Qianfo Mountain Park; in 1995, a garden in the garden named Yingfang garden was built on the west side of Cherry Blossom forest; in 1996, a tea ceremony hall was built on the west side of pavilion garden.
Yingfang garden is an organic part of Cherry Blossom forest, covering an area of 4 mu. It is a half closed pavilion garden. The gate, covered with grey tiles on the top of the slope, is located on the north side. Inside the gate, the rough stones lie horizontally to serve as a barrier. On the stone is engraved with the word "cherry" written by Wei Qihou, a contemporary calligrapher in Jinan, which indicates to Yingfang garden that this is the theme of Cherry Blossom world. In addition to cherry blossoms, the garden is also equipped with pine and cypress, coggygria coggygria, jasmine and other flowers and trees.
Peach Garden
Peach garden is on the north side of Wanfo cave. It was built in 1990, covering an area of 7 hectares, with more than 2400 plants of mountain peach, cultivar peach, drooping willow peach, red apricot and elm leaf plum. In early spring, peach blossoms are in full bloom, charming and beautiful, and the setting flowers are colorful, like red clouds and Flowing Clouds. Green cypress around, onion cage storage run. Birds are singing, bees are flying and butterflies are dancing. On the southeast slope of the garden, there is a "red rain Pavilion", with a stone round top, exquisite and empty.
Pear garden
Pear garden is built between Wanfo cave and Maitreya Shengyuan, near shangshanpan Road, more than 4000 square meters. In March, the scenery is charming. The first leaves of flowers open, one after another, one ear after another, plain and charming, filling the spring garden.
Zhao Fuyuan of the Song Dynasty described the most vividly in his poem "pear blossom". The poem said: "jade is the spirit, snow is the skin, and the charm is clearer in the rain. Qianfo Mountain will be full of chrysanthemums in autumn, with the scenery of "enjoying chrysanthemums in Foshan", which is known as one of the eight scenic spots in Jinan. Bian Gong, a poet of the Ming Dynasty, summed up the autumn scenery of Qianfo Mountain with a poem: "the red maple on the back is straight, the purple chrysanthemum on the rock is fat. "
Lishan courtyard
Lishan courtyard is located in the east of Xingguo temple, also known as the East Temple. It was originally a courtyard where Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism lived together. The three characters "lishanyuan" on the forehead are collected from the Qianlong imperial stele. The south wall of the mountain gate is inlaid with Lishan inscription, which was written by Ruan Yuan, a Jinshi of Qianlong in 1795, and by Gui Fu, a scribe. The two outstanding scholars' writing and calligraphy complement each other, which is precious and adds color to Qianfo Mountain.
Lishan courtyard is a place to carry forward Dashun culture. The main buildings in the courtyard include Shun temple, Luban temple, Sansheng hall, sight Pavilion and other scenic spots. Qianfo Mountain Scenic Area vigorously excavates and promotes Shun culture. In 2009, Lishan courtyard was rebuilt. On the basis of preserving historical sites, buildings were repaired and couplets were written. According to the natural mountain situation, more than 800 words of "Shun Dian" with a length of 30 meters and a width of 6 meters were engraved on the cliff. The Shun cultural atmosphere is even stronger.
Myriad Buddha Hole
Located in the northern foot of Qianfo Hill, the WAN foo cave was built in 1992. It is composed of four parts: Mogao collection, Longmen essence, Maiqi view and Yungang collection. It is a great scenic spot in Qianfo Hill. The length of the cave is 500 meters. After artists selected, condensed and reconstructed, the Buddha, Bodhisattva, disciple and king of heaven nearly 30 thousand were modeled by imitation, and the essence of the four grottoes of Dunhuang, Longmen, Maiji Mountain and Yungang was one.
The largest reclining Buddha is 28 meters long. In front of the cave stands the Giant Buddha shaped by Sichuan Leshan Giant Buddha. It is 15 meters high, gazing solemnly. The murals in the cave, covering an area of more than 10000 square meters, complement each other with exquisite and magnificent, simple and majestic, implicit and beautiful, grand and rugged styles, reappear the artistic charm of Chinese Grotto statues, and record the changes in the development history of Chinese Buddhism. It can be said that "a grotto art museum with thousands of colorful sculptures and murals has been built for thousands of years. Wan Li, former chairman of the National People's Congress, Gu Mu, vice premier of the State Council and other leaders have come here to visit.
Thousand-Buddha Cliffside Sculptures
Qianfo cliff, located in the south of the temple, is an early statue group in Jinan, which is of great value to the study of Buddhism in the Sui Dynasty. On the cliff, there are more than 130 Buddhist statues engraved from 587 to 595. In the middle of the cave, Amitabha sits on his knees. It is 3 meters high and decorated with Buddhist light. On the right side, Dashi reaches Bodhisattva, on the left side, Guanyin stands by Bodhisattva, nearly 3 meters high. It was chiseled in the 11th year of kaihuang (591). Other caves are scattered on the wall outside the cave.
Guanyin Garden
Avalokitesvara in Qianfo Mountain is a white Avalokitesvara, 15 meters tall, standing in the middle of the pool. The Dharma is kind and amiable. Around the pool are the incarnations of various Avalokitesvara, which are: Avalokitesvara in itself, Avalokitesvara sending children, Avalokitesvara counting beads, Avalokitesvara crossing the sea, and Avalokitesvara from the willows. On the west side of the statue of Guanyin in white, there is a Guanyin hall, which is connected by pavilions and corridors. It is antique and has a great charm.
Qianlou cave
Located in the east of the blissful cave, it is several meters deep. After three folds, it is rectangular. It is artificially dug and similar to a room. It is two meters high and covers an area of 20 square meters. In the upper part of the cave, there is a stone carving with the big character "qianlou cave". Qianlouzi's life experience is recorded in small characters, which means: qianlouzi, a native of Qi State in Zhou Dynasty, lived in seclusion here, chiseled a stone cave and never went down the mountain. He wrote four books, named qianlouzi, all about Taoists. When Lu Gonggong heard that he was talented, he sent envoys to hire him as prime minister, but he was rejected. Every time the king of Qi Wei was defeated, he came to ask for advice. Qian Louzi gave him a secret, so he turned defeat into victory.
On the stone wall of yingmen in the cave, there is a tablet, which records the story of qianlouzi: "Mr. qiandang died, covered with cloth. If you cover your head, you can see it. Zeng Xi said, "if you slant the quilt, you will be buried. Qian Lou's wife said, "if you are inclined, you will be more than right. It's not the intention of Mr. Wang to live and die. This is a good story.
Xingguo Temple
Located on the hillside of Qianfo Mountain, Xingguo Buddhist temple is a famous incense resort in Shandong Province. It has the main hall, Guanyin hall, Maitreya hall and Duihua Pavilion, covering an area of 3000 square meters. According to the records of Shi Zhi in the seventh year of Chenghua (1471) of Ming Dynasty, the temple was destroyed by war. On August 3 in the fourth year of Chenghua (1468), Su Xian, an official in the palace of Dewang, visited Qianfo Mountain. He was sighed at the scene, so he donated money to build Buddhist temple, monk's house, kitchen, granary, etc. The gate of the temple faces west. On the forehead, Zhao Puchu, the former chairman of the Chinese Buddhist Association and calligrapher, inscribed "Xingguo Temple". Couplet stone inscription: "the evening drum and the morning bell awaken the worldly celebrities, and the Buddha calls back the dream of the bitter sea."
