Zibo Ceramic Museum
Located in the cultural square of Zibo City Center, Zibo Ceramic Museum is a comprehensive modern ceramic Museum integrating display, exhibition, collection, research, sales and social education. The exhibition hall is divided into seven parts: foreword area, comprehensive exhibition area, ancient and modern exhibition area, modern exhibition area, ceramic art creation area, ceramic boutique sales area, and Chinese and foreign ceramic art masters' works exhibition area.
Development history
After the founding of new China, on the basis of inheriting and carrying forward the traditional skills, Zibo Ceramics developed talcum porcelain, high feldspar porcelain, high quartz porcelain, synthetic bone porcelain and other new porcelain. The art of carving porcelain is unique, forming a new characteristic of Zibo Ceramics. Among the ancient exhibits are famous Zibo Ceramics, such as the blue glazed lotus statue of the Northern Dynasty, the raindrop glaze of the Song Dynasty, the tea powder glaze, the hanging embryo porcelain, and the powder bar porcelain. There are also eggshell pottery of Longshan culture and rare treasures such as Yingqing holding pot, Dingyao bowl, and Geyao bowl of the Song Dynasty. According to different uses and artistic styles, the modern exhibits are classified into architectural ceramics, garden art ceramics, sanitary ceramics, daily-use ceramics, art ceramics, modern ceramics, carved ceramics and high-tech ceramics, showing the highest artistic level and development of Zibo Ceramics. In the ceramic art creation area "Tao Yuan", visitors can also make it by hand. It takes about 2 hours to visit the scenic spot.
Ceramics are the symbol of Chinese culture. With its unique charm, Chinese ceramics have been spread all over the world and become a bright pearl in the world's cultural and artistic treasure house. Zibo is the birthplace of Qi culture and one of the five major ceramic producing areas in China. As early as 8000 years ago, during the period of "post Li Culture", ceramic production began in Zibo area. At the beginning of the Western Zhou Dynasty, the state of Qi set up a special "Tao Zheng" official to manage the production of pottery. Around the Wei, Jin and southern and Northern Dynasties, the ceramic production in Zibo area completed the transition from pottery to porcelain. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, Zibo produced a number of famous ceramic products. The Celadon of Zhaili kiln, the black glazed porcelain of cicun kiln, the hanging embryo porcelain of Boshan kiln and the colored bottles were all famous for a time. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the ceramic products of Zibo were thick and heavy, forming a ceramic production and sales center represented by Boshan.
