The view of Quanzhen
Quanzhen temple, also known as Chaoyuan cave, is located in the west of Yuquan courtyard. It is a place for Taoist he Zhizhen to cultivate his morality and nature in the early Yuan Dynasty. According to historical records, he Zhizhen was named Yuanxi. From Kublai Khan to Bingzi year of the Yuan Dynasty (1276), he lived in the west of Yuquan courtyard and lived in Huashan Mountain. Although he Zhizhen named the place where he lived Quanzhen temple, which was intended to invigorate and promote the religious style and moralization of Taoist Quanzhen school, his wish was not enough because of his humble temple and lonely body. Therefore, he abandoned the view to climb the main peak of Huashan Mountain and began to carve a hole in the mountain.
history
In the past 40 years, he Zhizhen had a meal and a drink of dew. He chose to dig holes along the huashanyu valley. He even climbed vines and chiseled stones on the cliffs where there were few birds and no apes. Finally, more than 70 holes were dug, so that all the Taoists who came to Huashan after the Yuan Dynasty had a place to be forbidden. At that time, he Zhizhen was famous for digging holes, and rumors about him with the color of God's words spread like wildfire. Admirers and monks swarmed in, officials and nobles came to visit, while he Zhizhen disappeared behind closed doors. Later, in order to avoid worries, he lived in the stone chamber at the end of Chaoyuan cave or Changkong plank road outside nantianmenwai.
Because people could not see Taoist priest he, they had to offer incense in his original Quanzhen temple, which became the lower courtyard of Chaoyuan cave outside nantianmenwai. In November 1299, he Zhizhen died in qianzhen nunnery, Chang'an, at the age of 88. His disciples Yao Zhenchang and others buried his remains in a stone niche at the foot of the west mountain of Quanzhen temple. Later, in accordance with the instructions of he Zhizhen, all the disciples stayed in Quanzhen temple for a long time and worked hard. During the 14 years of emperor Renzong's reign (1312), Quanzhen Temple reached its peak. The hall is magnificent. In the center of the hall, there are more than 400 statues of the three Qing Dynasties, both big and small, which constitute a magnificent picture of the Yuan Dynasty. On the lintel of the hall, the word "Chaoyuan" is used. Visitors from far and near to Huashan must come to worship it. Its incense was the most popular among all the palaces in Huashan at that time. When someone asked why they changed Quanzhen temple to Chaoyuan cave. The Taoists explained: "the Yuan Dynasty is to worship the heaven at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. The Yuan Dynasty is one. The heaven is clear and the earth is peaceful. The first is Yuan Dynasty. Therefore, it starts with the dry and supplies. In the Kun Dynasty, the things are useful. The heaven is the heaven, the earth is the earth, the people are the people, and the things are the things Therefore, those who travel Huashan must go to Chaoyuan cave first, so as to understand that the rebirth of all things begins from the beginning, and a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Only then can we experience the peak of ten thousand Ren, reach the realm of God and truth pursued by Taoism, wash away the filth of form in the boundless outline, correct our thoughts in the solitude, and truly reach the realm of forgetting his courage, leaving his thoughts, and having nothing and no self.
rise and fall
During the 700 years, Chaoyuan cave was abandoned several times. In 1958, the Longhai Railway moved southward, and the cave niche of Chaoyuan was destroyed, leaving only a few remnant temples. To the "Cultural Revolution", all the buildings were destroyed, only a few acres of bamboo, a pair of stone lions. There is a stone tablet in front of the temple, which is well preserved. The stele was erected in the reign of emperor TAIDING of the Yuan Dynasty (1324-1328). The inscription records he Zhizhen's achievements in coming to Huashan to build a cave and the whole process of building Chaoyuan cave. It is one of the key cultural relics protected in Shaanxi Province.
