During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Malan, with a total area of 1050 square kilometers, was the center and one of the important activity areas of the Shaanxi Gansu border revolutionary base, leaving the footprints of Xie Zichang, Liu Zhidan, Xi Zhongxun, Jia Tuofu, Wang Feng and other revolutionaries.

The former site of Malan revolution is a key cultural relic protection unit in Shaanxi Province and a national AAAA tourist attraction

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Malan was the center and one of the important activity areas of the revolutionary base of Shaanxi Gansu border area, where the Shaanxi Gansu guerrillas of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army stationed and operated. During the Anti Japanese War and the war of liberation, Malan was the South Gate of the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region, the frontier post of Yan'an, the holy land, the political, military and economic center of Guanzhong District, the important post and red channel for people with lofty ideals and military supplies to Yan'an, and the cradle of training revolutionary cadres.
In February 2020, in order to pay tribute to the medical workers struggling in the front line of anti epidemic, from the date of resumption of operation to December 31, 2020, the policy of free visit to all medical workers in the country will be implemented.
Historical evolution
Malan is located at the southern end of the Qiaoshan mountains. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Malan was an important part of the Shaanxi Gansu border revolutionary base. In this red land, the Chinese Communists held high the revolutionary banner, carried out the armed separatist regime of workers and peasants, and created a revolutionary regime. The vast and powerful Malan mountain left the footprints of the older generation of revolutionaries such as Liu Zhidan, Xie Zichang, Xi Zhongxun, etc. In December 1932, the 26th army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army was established here. In April 1937, the party, government and military organs of Guanzhong special zone moved to Majiabao village. During the Anti Japanese War and the liberation war, Malan was the South Gate of the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region, the political, economic, military and cultural center of Guanzhong region, the main post station and red channel for people with lofty ideals and military supplies to Yan'an, and the cradle for training revolutionary cadres. From October 1939 to April 1949, Malan was the seat of CPC Guanzhong sub committee, CPC Guanzhong prefectural committee and Shaanxi provincial Party committee. The older generation of proletarian revolutionaries such as Xi Zhongxun, Wang Feng, Li Weihan, Zhang Zhongliang, Zhao Boping, Gao Jinchun, Zhang Desheng, Wen niansheng and Wang Shitai worked and fought here for a long time. Northern Shaanxi public school, Lu Xun Normal University and the second Normal University of the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region successively ran schools here, and cultivated tens of thousands of talents for the Chinese revolution.
In December 2016, the site of Malan revolution was listed in the list of national Red Tourism classic scenic spots.
In March 2017, the former site of Malan revolution was named the national patriotic education demonstration base by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Central Committee.

Location of the site
Malan revolution site is located in Malan Town, Xunyi County, 53 kilometers away from Xunyi county. It belongs to the southern margin of Ziwuling, with mountains and dense forests. The winding Malan River flows through it. Provincial highway 306 passes through the whole area and connects with national highway 211.
Historical evolution
During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, Malan, with a total area of 1050 square kilometers, was the center and one of the important activity areas of the Shaanxi Gansu border revolutionary base, leaving the footprints of Xie Zichang, Liu Zhidan, Xi Zhongxun, Jia Tuofu, Wang Feng and other revolutionaries. In December 1932, the 26th army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army was established in Malan and held a flag awarding ceremony. Du Heng, political commissar of the army, Wang Feng, Secretary of the Party committee, Liu Zhidan, political director, and Wang Shitai, head of the second red regiment. In January 1936, the Guanzhong special committee and the Soviet government of the Guanzhong special zone were established, with the organ in Malan (Majiabao Village). Jia Tuofu and Xi Zhongxun served as the secretaries of the special committee successively. In February 1936, Comrade Liu Shaoqi passed Malan from northern Shaanxi, arrived at the town of Liyang in Lintong under the escort of Guanzhong special committee and guerrillas, and then traveled to North China. In December 1936, Peng Dehuai, Ren Bishi, Deng Xiaoping, Nie Rongzhen, Xu Haidong, Yang Shangkun, Luo Ruiqing, Wang Shoudao, Cheng Zihua and others led the main Red Army to the South and garrisoned here for eight months.
During the war and the liberation war, Malan was the South Gate of the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region, the frontier post of Yan'an, the holy land, the political, military and economic center of Guanzhong District in the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region, and the important post station and red channel for people with lofty ideals and military materials from Xi'an and even all over the country to Yan'an. From October 1937 to April 1949, Malan was the seat of Shaanxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and Guanzhong District of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region for 13 years. Revolutionaries such as Xi Zhongxun, Wang Feng, Zhang Desheng, Zhao Boping, Zhang Bangying, Huo Weide, Zhang Zhongliang and Wang Shitai lived and fought here for a long time. In July 1945, Peng Dehuai commanded the Yetai mountain Sniper War and totally annihilated... Three divisions. The general headquarters was located in the cave of Malan. On April 12, 1948, the first, second, fourth and sixth columns of the Northwest Field Army assembled in Malan area. On April 14, Peng Dehuai held a meeting of cadres above brigade level in Malan small conference room, deployed the Xifu campaign, issued operational orders, and marched to Xifu in three directions: left, middle and right. On May 12, the Xifu campaign ended, and all the Northwest Field Army returned to Malan. After breaking through the Central Plains, Li Xiannian went back to Guanzhong District from southern Shaanxi, recuperated in Malan cave, and returned to Yan'an after recovery. The CPC Shanxi Provincial Committee and Henan Provincial Committee also worked in Malan. Li Furen, a famous educator and head of the Northwest Branch of the Democratic League, was shot by... Spies in Xianyang, rescued by the underground party, injured by Malan, and then arrived in Yan'an. Malan is also the cradle of training revolutionary talents. After July 1937, Northern Shaanxi public school, Lu Xun art normal school and the second normal school of Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region successively established schools here, which trained tens of thousands of pillar talents for the Chinese revolution.
