Jichang Daoyin office is commonly known as taiyamen. Its predecessor was the administrative and diplomatic organization in Changchun established by the Qing Dynasty in October 1908. His first name was bingbidao, Jilin West Road, and he was in charge of administration and foreign affairs in Changchun. Located in the north of dongsidaojie Road, Daotai yamen was built in 1909, the first year of Xuantong reign. Xuantong two years (1910) in July renamed Southwest Road observation, under the jurisdiction of Changchun (including Nong'an, Changling, Dehui three counties). In 1914, it was changed to Jichang Daoyin, which was in charge of Jilin, Changchun and other 12 counties. In 1929, Jichang Daoyin was abolished, but there were still negotiators in charge of foreign affairs. On March 9, 1932, Puyi's "inauguration ceremony" in Daotai yamen was held in front of the former site's office.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the former site of the office was used and managed by Changchun telephone equipment factory and other units, and now the right to use it belongs to Changchun urban construction exhibition hall.
The former site of the office is a complex of Chinese and western buildings, covering an area of 15000 square meters. There are four existing buildings, namely, the gate tower, the lobby, the second Hall and the chief executive's office.
The front gate tower is about 12 meters high, sitting from west to East. It is thick and heavy, with a lacy pattern carved on the cement surface. There are five rooms on both sides of the gate tower, which are used as the reception room and the guard office, covering an area of more than 700 square meters. The lobby, the second Hall and the officer's office are all veranda buildings. The hall is 7 meters high and solemn, covering an area of more than 700 square meters. The interior space of the hall is wide and bright. The back hall is located on the west side of the main hall. The style of the building is the same as that of the main hall, but it is slightly shorter. On the north side of the main hall are four western style houses, covering an area of 900 square meters. It is the office of senior officials of Daotai Yamen. The buildings are very exquisite.
Jichang Daoyin government office was the highest organ in Changchun Government office from the late Qing Dynasty to the early Republic of China. It recorded the historical process of local government officials in the late Qing Dynasty who fought against Russia and Japan on the issue of sovereignty and suffered humiliation. It also witnessed the invasion of Russia and Japan on the northeast during the late Qing Dynasty, the Republic of China and even the period of northeast occupied by Japanese invaders. Its former site used to be one of the representative buildings in modern Changchun. It is a typical example of the European and American colonial veranda architectural style spread to Northeast China. Its architectural style and technology highlight the collision and integration of Chinese and Western culture, and reflect the highest level of Changchun architecture at that time. It has important empirical significance and research value.
