Fuyicang was built in Guangxu period of Qing Dynasty, which means "to get rich by benevolence, to achieve justice by harmony". At that time, all the rice and grain used in Hangzhou were transported by canal and stored in Fuyi granary. Together with Nanxin granary in Beijing, it was called "Tianxia granary". There was also a saying that "Nanxin granary in the north and Fuyi granary in the South".
There are 13 granary buildings in total. Building 1 at the gate is facing the quay of the canal river, and the words "socialist village" are written in red paint at the gate. The door frame was built in the late Qing Dynasty, which has a history of 100 years; the characters were written in the 1960s, and the original style is preserved.
