Historical evolution
In the 12th year of Jiaqing (1807) of the Qing Dynasty, the government was changed to Nanxiong Prefecture of Zhili, which was under the jurisdiction of Guangdong provincial governor. Baochang county was removed and Shixing County was led. In the 16th year of Jiaqing period, it was promoted to Fu again, and in the next year it was reduced to Zhili Prefecture until the end of Qing Dynasty.
From the beginning of the Republic of China, Nanxiong Prefecture was changed into Nanxiong County, under the jurisdiction of Guangdong Province.
After the founding of the people's Republic of China, it will remain unchanged.
In 1957, the cutting team of Nanxiong County Forest Industry Branch entered maomaofeng for resource investigation and operation.
In January 1958, cadres of Nanxiong county were transferred to maomaofeng forest farm, named state-owned maomaofeng forest farm.
In December 1958, Nanxiong county and Shixing County were merged into Nanxiong county.
In October 1960, it was divided into Nanxiong county and Shixing County, under the jurisdiction of Shaoguan Commissioner's office of Guangdong Province.
In June 1982, Nanxiong county was subordinate to Shaoguan City after the implementation of the city governing county system.
In 1994, the state-owned maomaofeng forest farm of Nanxiong county was wholly reorganized into Guangdong Cuiping Industrial Co., Ltd. with the approval of Guangdong Provincial Commission of economic restructuring.
In June 1996, Nanxiong was set up as a city instead of a county, under the jurisdiction of Shaoguan City, Guangdong Province.
In January 2011, Guangdong Provincial Forestry Department approved the establishment of "Guangdong hat peak Provincial Forest Park". Maomaofeng Forest Park is a provincial forest park established on the basis of maomaofeng forest farm in Nanxiong City, Guangdong Province.
In May 2012, maomaofeng forest farm was awarded "forest eco-tourism demonstration base of Guangdong Province" by Guangdong Provincial Forestry Department and Guangdong Provincial Tourism Administration.
In 2013, Shaoguan Tourism Bureau and Shaoguan Agriculture Bureau awarded maomaofeng forest farm "Shaoguan Nongjiale tourism demonstration site".
In December 2014, maomaofeng Forest Park was rated as national AAA scenic spot.

1. Colorful autumn
Hat peak in autumn presents tourists with a colorful world. More than 700 mu of mature Ginkgo biloba and Metasequoia glyptostroboides plantations are planted in the park, and the natural regeneration of Liquidambar formosana forest and other color leaf trees are distributed in blocks and dots. The leaf color changes from green to yellow and from green to red, which is in contrast with the Bibo stream, forming a beautiful and colorful "yellow apricot and red maple map". In late autumn, maomaofeng is known as "Lingnan Jiuzhaigou". Photographers from all over the province flock to the park. 2. Natural forest sea
Maomaofeng has a forest coverage rate of 90.7%, rich in biological resources and high biodiversity. The park is full of green forest. According to scientific investigation, there are 1267 species of vascular plants belonging to 617 genera of 187 families and 173 species of terrestrial vertebrate wildlife belonging to 58 families of 23 orders of 4 classes. It mainly preserves subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest, primary mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest, mountaintop evergreen broad-leaved bryophyte forest, bamboo forest and other forest vegetation.
3. Subtropical evergreen broad leaved forest
Subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest is the zonal vegetation of the park, accounting for about 61% of the total vegetation area, and is the main vegetation landscape of the park. The evergreen broad-leaved forest with M. Echinacea as the main formation belongs to the forest vegetation of multi-layer and different age forest, and other evergreen tree species such as Cinnamomum camphora, conidia, Machilus chekiangensis, Schima superba, etc. are common. Subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest is evergreen all the year round. There are many kinds of trees and vegetation with different colors and flower and fruit phenology. The seasonal changes of forest facies are obvious. In summer, Michelia purpurea decorates the forest crown, and in winter, there are bell flowers and cherry safflower clusters, just like a landscape painting.
4. Primary mountain evergreen broad leaved forest
Affected by the mountain climate, the primary mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest is distributed in the middle of the mountain with an altitude of 800-900 meters, accounting for about 22% of the total vegetation area. In the arbor layer, the common species are conifer, Manglietia tomentosa, Nelumbo nucifera, Syzygium microphylla, houhuanxi, persimmon, banyan, Camellia urophylla, etc. The primary mountain evergreen broad-leaved forest is evergreen all the year round, with yellow green, light green, dark green and brown green inlaying each other. It is the forest vegetation landscape with the most ornamental and popular science value in the park.
5. Evergreen broad leaved bryophyte forest on the top of mountain
The evergreen broad-leaved bryophyte forest on the top of the mountain is distributed on the top of the mountain at high altitude. The trees are low and the branches are varicose. The average height is about 5 meters, and it often branches below 1 meter from the base of the trunk. Under the influence of winter ice and snow, the canopy of the community is continuous and the gap is fissured. Forest appearance is evergreen all the year round, with bright dark green as the main tone, occasionally dotted with deciduous trees. The color patches of white, light red, bright red and red green are changed in different phenological periods, and the color is rich and changeable.
6. Bamboo forest
Most of the bamboo forests in the park are moso bamboo, Dendrocalamus latiflorus and Phyllostachys edulis, which are inlaid along the mountain or valley, or interlaced with evergreen broad-leaved forest. The bamboo forest is green and sets off the evergreen broad-leaved forest, swaying and graceful with the wind.
7. Wildlife landscape
Maomaofeng Forest Park has high forest coverage, and has preserved the original forest vegetation. The wildlife and habitat are well protected, the habitat types are diverse, and the wildlife resources are rich. Entering the scenic area, you can see the eagle flying and hear the birds singing. It's a green world full of insects and birds. Among the 173 species of terrestrial wild animals, birds are the most abundant with high visibility; in the bird landscape, mandarin duck and Silver Pheasant have the highest population density and ornamental value.
8. Bibo stream
Lingjiang River in maomaomaofeng Forest Park has a drop of 928 meters and an average annual flow of 9.2 meters per second. It is rich in surface water resources. Dense forest and abundant water resources have laid a good natural resource condition for the development of hydrological landscape. There are many streams, waterfalls, pools, streams, lakes and hot springs in the park. The water quality is clear and transparent. In Lingjiang River Gorge, the streams are trickling, the water is murmuring, the waterfalls are falling in groups, and the pools and streams are connected; the ginkgo lake is surrounded by green forests, which is quiet and beautiful; the waterfall in the Shuizhu pond is thousands of feet long, which is covered with green shade.
Dense forests and flowing streams make the average content of negative oxygen ions in the air of maomaomaofeng reach 12700 / cm3, the lowest 8358 / cm3 and the highest 50600 / cm3, and the air is clean with 670 bacteria / m3. Maomaofeng forest scenic spot can be regarded as a "health spot hard to buy".
9. Huge trees
Maomaofeng's forest resources have been fully and effectively protected. In the park, there are many ancient trees with DBH of more than 80 cm in the forest, by the stream and by the road.
