Liping Lianghu guild hall is a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Guizhou Province. It was built in 1797 and maintained in the reign of Emperor Guangxu. It is composed of a gate tower, a theater, a Yuwang palace, a Buddha Hall, a Dongting palace, a veranda, a three Ying attic, and a water curved corridor. It is located in erlangpo, Defeng Town, Liping County, Guizhou Province. In order to make Chuke's idea of "always thinking about the old and chatting happily", people of insight proposed to build the guild hall in the winter of the second year of Jiaqing (1791) as a place for Hunan and Hubei merchants to live. In the winter of the first year of Xianfeng (1851), Chu Heqiao was observed to repair it again.

Detailed introduction

The guild hall was built in the second year of Jiaqing (1797) of the Qing Dynasty. It was maintained during the reign of Guangxu. It is located from west to East and consists of a gate tower, a theater tower, a Yuwang palace, a Buddha Hall, a Dongting palace, a veranda, a three Ying attic, and a water curved corridor. It covers an area of 3479 square meters and a building area of 741.9 square meters. Yuwang palace is a hard hilltop with three 11 purlin double step corridors, with a width of 14 meters, a depth of 13 meters and a height of 3 meters. Between the two times, under the rolling shed of the front eaves, a "tanhuaji" and a third "zhuangyuanji" vertical plaque were hung. Five dragons were carved on the three sides of camphor wood, and the two phoenixes were dancing with flowers at the bottom. In the palace, there was originally a relief shrine with a huge statue of King Yu and two statues of Wenwu and Caishen. The carving technique is quite exquisite. There are 26 couplets holding pillars on the pillars. Under the Watchboard, there are 15 gold horizontal plaques with different specifications. There are two Wang Zhao, Yan, Liu, ou and so on. Most of them are Wang Zhao. The calligraphy is vigorous, round and steady, with rigorous structure, simple and unadorned. Each of them has its own characteristics. These plaques were inscribed by local officials from Jiaqing of the Qing Dynasty to the early years of the Republic of China. Among them, he Shaoji's inscription of "achievement of Pingcheng" and Shi Chengzao's inscription of "Shengfu Wende" were selected into the "complete collection of Chinese people's plaques" in 1992. According to the Department in charge of cultural relics, this is one of the most well preserved plaques in the provincial Guildhall.

Behind the Yuwang palace is the Buddha Hall. The lintel is hung with a horizontal plaque of "nandajugao", with strong strokes. On the side are the veranda, attic, Dongting palace, waterside pavilion, etc. "the carved beams are full of brilliance, and the painted buildings are full of clouds". It shows the superb skills of Huguang artists.

Maintenance and protection

The guild hall was repaired twice in 1851 and 1876, respectively. In 1946, it was changed into a county health center. During the reconstruction, the craftsman moved the statue of King Yu to another place, and the plaque was hidden on the floor of the sky. In 1984, the county government immediately designated it as a cultural relic protection unit on that day, and now it is a provincial cultural relic protection unit.
