There are 15 tombs in the ancient tomb group of general in micanggou, among which general's tomb is the largest. The whole tomb has a circumference of more than 150 meters and a height of 8 meters, covering an area of 1295 square meters. There are 14 small and medium-sized earth sealed stone chamber tombs on the left and right inner arcs. Archaeological excavation found that the tomb of the general is more expensive, including the passage, the north and South ear room, the corridor, and then the main chamber. In the rectangular tomb chamber, there are two stone beds in the north and south. The inside of the tomb chamber is painted with white ash. The tomb of the general is located on a hill 500 meters north of micanggou village, Yahe Township, Huanren, with a history of more than 1500 years. Around it, there are 13 sealed earth chamber tombs, some of which contain murals. Tomb structure

General's tomb is a large-scale sealed earth stone chamber tomb. It was originally a truncated square cone, like a buckled bucket. After a long time, the rain flushed the water, and the corner became blunt. The shape gradually approximated to a dome. The sealed earth was 8 meters high, 150 meters in circumference, and 45 meters in diameter. It was composed of corridor, ear chamber, and tomb chamber, 15 degrees to the West and North. On both sides of the corridor are the South and North ear chambers. At the east end of the corridor is the tomb gate with a lintel on the top and a threshold on the bottom. The two stone doors have fallen to the ground long ago. After entering the gate, there is a spacious tomb. The plane of the tomb is square, with a side length of 3.5 meters and a lifting height of 3.5 meters. The ground was flat with huge stones. There are two stone coffin beds in the north and south, which are the whole granite.

Inside the tomb

Murals are painted on the four walls of the tomb, parallel folded beams, caisson and ear chamber. The mural is painted on a thin layer of white ash on the wall of the tomb. The four walls of the tomb are painted with lotus patterns. Each lotus is viewed from the side and has nine petals. Five petals are outlined with red lines, and the other four petals are drawn with ink lines in the middle of each two petals. The petals are black and red, and there are some scattered petals. At the bottom of each lotus, I-shaped receptacles are outlined with ink lines to form a complete individual. In the east wall, there are 5 rows of lotus flowers, 11 in each row, a total of 55. The north and south walls are divided into 5 rows, each row has 12 pieces, and 60 pieces are painted in total. The west wall is the middle part of the corridor, and several lotus flowers are also painted.

The double dragon pattern is painted on the top of the four walls and around the door. On the red substrate, the ink line is used to make the dragon. The two dragons are in a group. The body of the bow is crossed, the neck is bent, and the claws are fixed. The empty space between the belly and the body of the two dragons is painted with drum shaped patterns symbolizing auspiciousness.

The frog shaped flower bud pattern is painted on the front of the first stack of astringent beams. It is shaped like a lotus bud that has not been released. The three layers of green calyx bend downward, and the lower two sides extend out the stem calyx to implicate each other. Although it is a flower bud, it is as frog shaped as a whole.

The cloud pattern of "Wang" is painted on the wall and top of the ear chamber. In the curving cloud pattern, there is a "Wang" character, which is arranged continuously and full of pictures, like a piece of dazzling brocade.

Construction control zone

Ten meters outside the protected area. Because the tomb of the general is close to the Bank of Hun River, 16 kilometers north of Hun River is the capital of Koguryo, wunushan mountain city. The tomb of general micanggou is a large mural tomb with earth sealed stone chamber in the period of Koguryo. The length of the earth sealed side of the tomb is 41-45 meters, the perimeter of the bottom side is 172 meters, and the height is 7.2 meters. The tomb chamber is composed of the corridor, the north and South ear chambers, the main chamber and other parts, all of which are built with carved and exquisite boulders. The corridor is 5.4 meters long and 1.48 meters wide. The top of the corridor is paved with flat boulders, which are divided into three sections from the outside to the inside, gradually decreasing layer by layer, and 1.6-2 meters high. Located on both sides of the corridor, the north and South ear chambers are similar in size, with a rectangular plane, 1.6 meters long, 1.17 meters wide and 1.65 meters high. The main room is square in plane with a side length of 3.56 meters. The ground is paved with smooth stones. A rectangular stone coffin bed is set in the north and south respectively. The stone coffin bed is made of independent boulders. The top of the chamber is a parallel caisson with a big bucket shaped stone on top. From the bottom to the top, the tomb is 3.5 meters high. The wall of the tomb is covered with a thin layer of white ash, on which there are murals. The theme of the mural is the orderly arrangement of side looking lotus, which creates a beautiful atmosphere. This kind of mural content may be related to the worship of Buddhism in Koguryo. In addition, the murals in the tomb also have double dragon pattern, deformed lotus pattern, Wang Zi Yun pattern and so on. The image of the dragon in the double dragon pattern is similar to the dragon pattern common in the Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasty cultural relics in the Central Plains region. This shows the influence of the Central Plains culture on the Koguryo culture. The general's tomb has a large enclosure, a grand chamber and a high standard of funerary objects. It is analyzed that the owner of the tomb should be a noble or a royal figure with higher power. General's tomb in micanggou is of great value to the study of Gaogouli's burial custom, painting art, Buddhist belief and the chronology of Gaogouli's mural tomb.
