brief introduction
In yonganbao Township, Suizhong County, Liaoning Province, there is an ancient Great Wall built in 1381, which is the main line of the Ming Great Wall in Liaoning Province. It is located in the steep Yanshan Mountains near Xigou village, yonganbao Township, and runs through seven natural villages, With a total length of 8.9 kilometers, people used to call it Xiaohekou Great Wall. It is also called "the third Badaling Mountain" because it lives in the steep mountains.
Xiaohekou Great Wall is built with green bricks. The stones on the wall are covered with moss, which records a long history. This section of the Great Wall, about 8.9 kilometers long, is still strong in bricks and stones, with about 31 enemy towers, 18 Battle Towers and 14 beacon towers. According to historical records, Xiaohekou Great Wall was built in the 14th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1381 A.D.).
Xiaohekou Great Wall is located in Xigou village, Yong'an Township, Suizhong County, Huludao island. Xiaohekou is a natural village in Xigou village. The great wall here is rarely known because of the deep mountains and old forests in the distance. It is the original wild great wall. The terrain of Xiaohekou is dangerous. There are two mountains and a ditch between them. The Great Wall guards the water pass. The original forest landscape here is natural and harmonious. The Great Wall is hidden by the forest, and there are hundreds of years of pines growing on the enemy tower What's more amazing is that the doors and windows of the enemy tower here are carved with exquisite patterns, with unique feminine beauty, which is called "the great wall of women" by experts and scholars.
In 1571 A.D., Qi Jiguang, a famous general, was transferred to Liaoning, Hebei and Beijing to rectify border affairs. All his soldiers were soldiers from Yiwu, Zhejiang Province who had made great contributions to the war. Because of the huge project and the arduous task of guarding, Qi Jiguang allowed some of his family members to accompany the army in order to stabilize the morale of the army. The officers and soldiers then settled down on the enemy tower with their wives and children. Later, they gradually moved down from the great wall and lived and multiplied nearby. It is precisely because of the arrival of the families of officers and soldiers that this section of the Great Wall was built with female characteristics.
The arched frames of doors and windows of this section of the great wall are engraved with lion Hydrangea, Trojan orchid, auspicious cloud ribbon and other patterns. There are also some patterns with complex lines, which are like two lotus flowers entwined together. Local villagers call them "entwined Lotus", which is a symbol of love between husband and wife. It is said that these carved patterns are from the soldiers of Yiwu, Zhejiang Province (that is, the people who built the Great Wall at that time) and originated from the exquisite craftsmanship of southern people. These soldiers from the far south have been separated from their families all the year round, and their yearning is reflected in their construction projects. It is precisely for this reason that Qi Jiguang later brought the families of these Yiwu soldiers from the south, and there were later "daughter-in-law building" and "Sun family building". This is a miniature of the cultural exchange between the north and the south of the Great Wall.
Xiaohekou Great Wall embodies almost all the characteristics of the Ming Great Wall: the wall is tall, strong, beautiful, durable and highly defensive. In many important areas, the city walls and fortresses are no longer made of single earth and stone, but are built with stone strips, covered with green bricks, and pointed with white ash, so that the whole city walls and fortresses are integrated and strong. On the city wall, there were not only lookout facilities, but also enemy platforms that could fight, defend and store military supplies. The enemy platform, also known as the wall platform or horse face, is an auxiliary building of the city wall. Generally, the wall platform is equal to or higher than the top of the city wall. There are crenels on the outer edge and houses or enemy towers on it. It can be used for garrison and patrol, and can also be used for storing weapons and ammunition.
