Hailuogou, located in Moxi Town, Luding County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, on the east slope of Gongga, is a very high mountain area on the eastern margin of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau. It is 280 kilometers away from Chengdu. Hailuogou, located at the foot of Gongga snow peak, is famous for its low altitude modern glaciers. Crystal clear modern glaciers pour down from high valleys; huge ice caves and steep ice bridges make people feel like crystal palace in myth.
In particular, the unparalleled great ice waterfall is more than 1000 meters high and 1100 meters wide, more than ten times larger than the famous Huangguoshu waterfall. Hailuogou is the easternmost low-altitude modern glacier discovery site in Asia, with an altitude of 2850 meters. Its ice waterfall is 1080 meters high and 0.5-1100 meters wide, which is the highest ice waterfall ever found in China. There are a large flow of boiling hot and cold mineral spring, a large area of virgin forest and high ice erosion peaks, a large number of rare animal and plant resources, gold and silver mountains complement each other. On October 9, 2016, the National Tourism Administration released the "red and black list" of holiday tourism, and Hailuogou scenic spot was listed as the best scenic spot for tourism service. On February 25, 2017, it was upgraded to a national 5A tourist attraction.
Due to the epidemic situation, the scenic spot is expected to reopen on March 10, 2020.
Historical evolution
In history, the great achiever of the post Tibetan bhagaju sect, King jabufa of the Tang Dynasty, traveled to India, the Han Dynasty, Turkey, Kham and Tibet. Knowledgeable, wise and ingenious, he built 128 pagodas and 128 bridges in Tibet, Ganzi and Qinghai. He is the founder of Tibetan opera, who founded the Yao Wang Temple in Tibet, wrote and created many kinds of historical stories of singing and dancing dramas. He was very accomplished in medicine and invented the secret of white pill which can cure all kinds of diseases in internal medicine and red pill which can cure epidemic diseases. Later, he died in Kang district at the age of 125, one of the oldest Tibetans. He is an outstanding and influential architect, Buddhist, dramatist, Tibetan medicine historian and bridge master. He is a holy Buddhist figure who has made great achievements in his life and fame, and has brought benefits to later generations. In the east of Tang Dynasty, King jebufa left footprints in Hailuogou, Yanzigou and Dadu river valleys, and the sites where he built temples, manidui and pagodas.
