Zilu Temple

Zilu temple was originally built in 843 A.D. in Huichang of Tang Dynasty. It is located near Qishu lake, Hongcun village, Yi County, Huangshan City. It has a large scale, magnificent buildings and a cool and deep environment.

Zilu temple was once full of incense and believers. Later, due to years of disrepair, they collapsed one after another. Reconstruction in 2003. The reconstructed Zilu temple is located in Ziling mountain bay, about 3km away from Hongcun, a world cultural heritage site. Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group donated 80 million yuan for reconstruction. The 9-story Luohan tower is designed according to the architectural style of the Mid Tang Dynasty, with a height of 55.6 meters.

Zilu temple is close to the elephant trunk peak. The mountain range on the left looks like a green dragon, and the mountain range on the right looks like a white tiger. There are four screens and two Reclining Buddha peaks in front of the temple. At the foot of Qishu lake, the 3000 mu water surface is as bright as a mirror. It is an excellent place for meditation. The reconstruction project is divided into three parts: religious living area, meditation area and academic area. At present, the main structure of the first phase of the project is about to be completed, including Shanmen hall, Tianwang hall, bell tower, Drum Tower, Daxiong hall, Luohan tower, sutra library, reception hall, pharmacist hall, Abbot's room, Daliao, yunshuiliao, etc,.

Historical origin

Yixian County was founded in the Tang Dynasty. It has been built for a long time. Since ancient times, it has been surrounded by dozens of Buddhist temples. Tang Huichang three years (AD 843), built Zilu temple. Since then, several dynasties have continued to build and renovate many times, forming a large-scale architectural complex. Buddhism is prosperous, and it is a grand Zen temple. It is said that Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou in Song Dynasty was built on this basis. Yuan Yanyou six years (AD 1319) monk Shao re raised the edge of reconstruction. In the 24th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1391 AD), it was merged into Guang'an temple, and then rebuilt. In 1931, the front hall collapsed. Due to the years, frequent wars, and damage during the cultural revolution, the old site was overgrown with weeds and empty doors, leaving only a large number of historical records, poems, couplets and plaques.

In August 2003, with the approval of the religious departments of Anhui Province, Huangshan City and Yi County, Yi county Party committee and county government set up a leading group for the restoration and reconstruction of Zilu temple. Beijing Zhongkun Investment Group invested 80 million yuan for the reconstruction of Zilu temple. After various planning, the land acquisition, demolition and preparation work have been basically completed. On August 20, 2005, the foundation laying ceremony was solemnly held. In October 2008, the Religious Bureau invited master mingzang to be the first abbot. In early 2009, he was promoted to the throne.

The current Abbot

Master mingzang, born in 1967 in Longhua, Chengde, Hebei Province, studied at Sun Yat sen University in Guangzhou. In the winter of 1999, he received the Dharma from master Jinghui and became the 45th generation of lineage inheritor of linjizong in China. He used to be the dean of Hebei Buddhist College, the Zhike and the leader of Berlin Buddhist temple, the abbot of Guanhai temple in Dalian, Liaoning, the editor in chief of Singapore's "Buddha education", the tutor of Lushan Buddhist tea club, and the general initiator of qingjingxing series of Zen activities.

Adhering to and carrying forward the concept of "life Zen", the series of activities organized and planned have successfully built a platform for communication and dialogue with Gaozhi youth. Among them, the "life Zen summer camp of Bolin temple in Zhaoxian County, Hebei Province", which participated in the planning, hosting and serving as the executive director of more than ten sessions of life Zen summer camp, has been welcomed and praised by the majority of young people. In the lectures of Peking University, Fudan University, Tsinghua University, Shaanxi Normal University, Sun Yat sen University, Beijing Normal University, University of Malaysia and other major universities, they are deeply loved by young students for their pure and thorough, direct wisdom and close to life style.

Buddhist contribution

In 2001, he organized and launched a series of "qingjingxing" meditation activities, and held several "Lushan Zen tea parties" in succession, which had a good response in the educational and cultural circles. The classics explained mainly include: Puxian xingyuanpin, Vajrayana Sutra, Yijiao Sanjing, Yongjia Zhengdao song, Dharma Master's two person four element theory, Xinjing, liuzu Tanjing, Yuanjue Sutra, Vimalakirti Sutra, Mahayana Qixin theory, Lengyan Sutra, etc. Among them, many classic notes have been published, which is a rare work of cultural popularization for Buddhism to enter the society.

The series of Buddhist summer camps initiated by master mingzang are as follows:

In 2004, he participated in the creation and organization of the first summer camp of Zen culture in Huangmei Sizu temple in Hubei Province, which has been opened year by year since then;

In 2005, he organized and presided over the first summer camp of cool tour in Wutai Mountain, Shanxi Province, and then started it year by year;

In 2005, we promoted the organization and implementation of the Lingshan tour of Lingshan Buddha in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, and held a summer camp every year;

In 2006, Chongqing soul tour summer camp was initiated, organized and implemented, and then started year by year;

In the autumn of 2006, he started the "soul post" meditation camp in Yuxi, Yunnan, and held more than 12 sessions of meditation camp in one year. The students spread all over the country;

In 2003, he participated in planning, organizing and hosting the first phase of meditation camp in Wenquan temple, Chongqing.

Since 2001, he has organized and launched a series of meditation activities. One of the series of activities, "Lushan Zen tea party" has been successfully held in Lushan for seven times, and it went international in 2005 - Malaysia Zen tea party successfully held three times in 2005.

In the spring of 2000, he led a delegation to Japan to experience the exchange of Buddhism between China and Japan, which was the first time for China to send an exchange of visits to the golden link between China, South Korea and Japan;

In 2003, he went to Thailand's Liberation garden to exchange meditation at the ashore meditation center;

Since 2004, he has been lecturing and promoting Buddhism and organizing meditation activities in Singapore, Indonesia, Jakarta and Surabaya, Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, Kuantan, Malacca, Penang, India, Sri Lanka and Nepal.

In 2006, he participated in the large-scale cultural exchange activity "re following Xuanzang's Westward Journey" organized by China Association for friendship and exchange with foreign countries;

In 2007, he went to Lingshan, Wuxi and Hong Kong successively to participate in the preparatory meeting of the second Buddhist Forum;

In the spring of 2007, he organized a Buddhist meditation tour in South Asia and led a delegation to Sri Lanka, Nepal and India for meditation activities;

In 2007, he was invited by Singapore daily to do a lecture tour in Malaysia;

In 2008, he led a delegation to the second Matsushita University in Tokyo, Japan, to participate in the international academic exchange conference of "Fanyun Tangyin";

In addition to his career in Buddhism and Buddhist culture, master mingzang also had many social responsibilities.

In 2004, he went to Ruili, Yunnan Province to participate in the preparation of setting up a hospice care Medical Center for AIDS patients;

In 2005, he provided psychological counseling for drug addicts in Guangzhou drug treatment center, and the results were remarkable;
