history
Heyuezhou, formerly known as "heyezhou", is round and surrounded by water, like a lotus leaf floating on the water. Located in the Yangtze River in Anhui Province. It is said that the crown prince of ancient logic made a pilgrimage to Jiuhua Mountain. He passed the Lotus Mountain in Tongcheng county and stepped on one foot. He stepped the whole Lotus Mountain into two sections. The lotus head went down the river and grew lotus leaves, so it was named lotus leaf island. On the recently unearthed stele of Tu Fu Temple: Benzhou. Carved in the middle: the God's seat of the temple. Below: February 1st, the 8th year of Shunzhi, Qing Dynasty. The monument of the temple shows that people settled in heyuezhou in 1652, which has a history of more than 330 years.
The pioneers who first came to heyuezhou were planting grass. First came to be "King", then came to be "minister". With the change of history, the conflict of land acquisition between the reclaimers is deepening. The owner who occupied the land first aroused the indignation of the later reclaimers, which led to endless disputes for years. Later, the officials and the people took notice of the dispute and changed the lotus leaf to harmony, which meant to be harmonious: to live in good neighbourliness. It is also said that Peng Yulin, the commander-in-chief of Qingshui division, came to heyezhou to train his Navy. He thought that heyezhou had withered and flourished at that time, so he called it "Heyue". The name is still used today.
Heyuezhou in Datong town of Tongling County looks like a lotus leaf floating on the river. Heyuezhou, formerly known as heyezhou, covers an area of about 2 square kilometers. It is a river center island uplifted by sediment deposition for thousands of years. According to the inscriptions of Fu Temple unearthed in the Shunzhi period of the Qing Dynasty in heyuezhou, a natural village was formed in the early Qing Dynasty.
After the hard work of several generations of pioneers, in the late Qing Dynasty, there were a lot of people on the continent, and there were quite a large number of towns. It is said that Peng Yulin, the commander of the Qing Navy and the leader of the Hunan army, changed his name to heyuezhou. Peng Yulin believed that heyezhou was a natural haven, so he trained his troops here to raise money. He also set up administrative and tax authorities on heyezhou, such as general yam, Lijin Bureau, Wan'an supervision and marketing Bureau. He also built three streets paved with stone strips and 10 long alleys to reach the riverside. Because the thatched cottages on the street are adjacent to each other, the fires are constantly burning, and the people on the island are constantly fighting for the land. Peng Yulin changed the name of heyezhou to heyuezhou when he inspected the Navy once, taking the idea that the businessmen should be friendly before they can prosper. The 1920s and 1930s were the heyday of Datong and Yuezhou, known as "little Shanghai". During the Anti Japanese War, Japanese planes bombed heyuezhou twice, and then the Kuomintang carried out the scorched earth Anti Japanese War, and heyuezhou declined from then on.
Although after hundreds of years of great changes, heyuezhou still attracts tourists from far and near with its elegant and quiet rural scenery, honest and simple folk customs, and profound history and culture. In 1996, the provincial government announced "Datong heyuezhou" as a provincial historical and cultural reserve; Datong, an ancient town, also won the China living environment model award in 2004.
