Xishaxi scenic area belongs to the special protection area, which is distributed with Neosinocalamus affinis forest, especially the ancient plant tree fern (Alsophila spinulosa) 150 million years ago, known as "living fossil", with more than 30000 plants. Laojun Mountain scenic area is a first-class protected area, and also the essence of the scenic area. It contains the most important traditional cultural landscapes, primitive forest communities, rare animals and plants, unique religious shrines and many other natural landscapes. The whole scenic area is rich in forest resources, including 17000 mu of virgin forest and 60000 mu of bamboo forest. It is the only subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest in southern Sichuan. There are more than 3500 kinds of plants and more than 150 kinds of broad-leaved tree species in the scenic area, including rare plants such as shue'e, ginkgo, Gongtong, Hongdou, framed bucket, etc., which is known as the "Museum of broad-leaved trees". There are more than 1000 kinds of wild animals, including more than 200 kinds of national and Sichuan key protected animals, including clouded leopard, Flying Leopard, wild boar, bear, mountain pheasant, etc. Taoism and Buddhism coexist in the scenic area. Since the middle of Qing Dynasty, Laojun Mountain has become a famous Taoist mountain in southern Sichuan. It flourished for a time, and now only 11 Taoist temples remain.

Laojun Mountain primeval secondary forest (Laojun Mountain Scenic Spot) is located in Pingshan County, southern Sichuan Province. It is a natural scenic spot with an area of 80 square kilometers, centered on Longhua Town, a famous historical and cultural town at the provincial level, which is a branch of Xiaoliang mountain to the East - Wuzhi Mountain. It is 120 km away from Yibin in the East and 140 km away from Leshan in the West. Longhua town with its well preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty style, road and Buddha with the mountain, living in a place, is a major feature of Longhua cultural landscape. In the scenic area, there are many mountains, green and luxuriant, high mountains, deep valleys, hanging springs and waterfalls, clear streams, birds, green bamboos, jade belts and colorful clouds.

Laojunshan National Nature Reserve in Sichuan Province, which was jointly organized by the Ministry of environmental protection and other seven departments, made an on-the-spot investigation and evaluation on the management status of 39 National Nature Reserves in 16 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government), and achieved the results of ranking eighth, total score of 88 and excellent grade.
