Beiyong Pavilion
Beiyong Pavilion is located in Beiyong square, Xinlian village, Lishui Town, Nanhai City, Foshan City, Guangdong Province. The pavilion covers an area of 64 square meters. The stone eaves and columns in the pavilion are engraved with the words "reconstruction of this square in 1856, Xianfeng, Lishi xinlidian", and the main beam is engraved with the words "reconstruction of Jidan in 1883, Guangxu, Guangxu".
According to legend, the construction of octagonal pavilions was purely caused by the ancient people's theory of "Feng Shui". At that time, a "master Feng Temple" was built in Fenggang township of Lishui. The gate of the temple was opposite to beiyongfang. It was thought that it was not good for the "Ding, CAI and GUI" of Lishui township. Therefore, one pavilion was built to overcome it, and the octagonal pavilions were built by the eight squares to block evil spirits. Each corner represents one square, which can be protected
Wuyu, in order to have a good harvest, the villagers worship the God "hehuaniang" in the pavilion. Every February of the lunar calendar, the villagers come to pray and worship, hoping for good weather and peace of the country. There is no statue left today. The pavilion was built in a square plane with double eaves at the top of Xieshan mountain. The main body of the pavilion is four wooden garden columns, which lead to the top floor. Three brackets are set on each side of the beams to form the Xieshan mountain. Outside the wooden columns are four hexahedral granite eaves. The eaves are low, and the inner wooden columns are high. Five brackets are set on each side of the eaves to support the tile eaves. The tile eaves extend one meter outward, and the four eaves angle is upward. The upper layer of the pavilion is resting The four corners of the top of the mountain and the four corners of the lower eaves are also called octagonal pavilion. The pavilion has a unique architectural form and structure, which is rare in our province. In 1978, it was announced as a key cultural relics protection unit in Guangdong Province.
