Since then, it has been reclassified as Yixiu District of Anqing city.
Brief introduction and history of temples
According to the introduction of the temple and local legend, Yuanpu temple was founded in the late Ming Dynasty, about 1622-1625. However, in the annals of Huaining County in the fourth year of the Republic of China, it was recorded that Yuanpu Temple belonged to "Song Jian". As for when it was built in the Song Dynasty, there is no clear record. If the official county annals are taken as the criterion, the Southern Song Dynasty regime collapsed in 1279, and Yuanpu temple has a history of at least 700 years.
According to Zhang Jianchu, a researcher of local cultural relics in Anqing, Yuanpu temple in the late Qing Dynasty belonged to Dafeng township of Huaining County. On the map of Dafeng Township in Daoguang annals of Huaining in the Qing Dynasty, there is Yuanpu Temple Bridge in the name of the temple. Now Yuanpu temple bridge is no longer there, and Yuanpu temple is not the Yuanpu Temple of that year, but the incense of Yuanpu temple has continued, even better than before.
The original building of Yuanpu temple was destroyed in the 1950s. In 1992, wuheng village paid for the renovation. Around 2000, Shi Xinguang, the current abbot, traveled here, and his heart moved, so he raised money to turn the village property into a temple property. In just a few years of development, Yuanpu temple has the style of a big temple. In addition to the Yueshen temple, it also has the main hall, the great mercy Guanyin hall, the great wish dizang hall, the Huayan three saints hall, and the western three saints hall. At the intersection leading to Yuanpu temple, there is also a dignified and rough stone archway. Today, the trees are lush, the birds are singing and the flowers are fragrant, the environment is elegant and pleasant, just like the holy land of Buddhism.
In 2008, it was reported by the media that the real monk was not corrupt for 230 years, which was well known in the Buddhist world. Later, monk shizongsheng was not corrupt for three years, which was amazing. Yuanpu temple is also famous for its successive appearance of real monks. Nowadays, Yuanpu temple is full of incense. According to the local police station, in recent years, on the eve of new year's Eve, the total number of pilgrims who come to the temple for incense is about 50000. So that the township police station has to borrow police force from other police districts in order to do a good job in security work.
He is now the host and has a wide range of interpretations. Graduated from Huangshan University, majoring in Buddhism, he has practiced in Jiuhua Mountain for more than ten years. In 2001, he became abbot of Yuanpu temple.
Living Buddha, master
Yuanpu temple, which covers an area of about 50 mu, takes the mountain as the wall, and the outside world is blocked out of sight. From the foot of the mountain to the middle of the mountain, there is a Bodhisattva at the top of the temple, sitting in a small world tightly inlaid with glass. This is what people often call "living Buddha" - Master Liaozhen.
It is said that master Zhen was born on October 23, 1681, in a poor peasant family with a surname of Duan in Dongxiang, Zongyang County, Anhui Province. He loved martial arts and medicine since childhood. When he grew up, he made a living by working with bamboo strips. He worked everywhere for the poor. His wares were beautiful and practical. Many of them were destroyed and burned by some young people when they broke the old four years in the last century. It seems that the craftsman was born with deep Buddhist roots. When he went out to work, he always brought his own cooking utensils without any pay. As long as he had a little firewood and rice, he would cook and eat when he was hungry The family provides any food contaminated with meat.
Because of his good craftsmanship, good heart, a pair of Bodhisattva heart, people like him. After 49 years of living on earth, he came to Yuanpu temple to become a monk. Since then, he has been farming by the temple every day, reciting scriptures at night, often seeing doctors and practicing medicine for the poor people free of charge, and making friends with good men and women, which has won the respect and love of the local people.
After 47 years of hard work, he was 96 years old. At the end of his life, the master called his disciples to him and said, "I don't have many days. After I die, you will sit my body in the VAT and open it three years later. If my body is rotten, you can deal with it at will. If my body is intact, you will kill me His body moved to the end of the temple to build a tower for support, and an octagonal pavilion was built outside the tower. "
Three years later, when the disciples opened the jar, they found that the master's body was intact and had been cultivated into a perfect body. According to master's will, the disciples immediately loaded gold and built a pagoda in Anya to support them.
In the early Qing Dynasty, the temple was often attacked by bandits. In order to avoid banditry, the local people moved Yuanpu temple to the bottom of hengqiao for peace. In the early days of liberation, the Kuomintang reactionary regime in Taiwan threatened to play a counter offensive against the mainland. The "living Buddha" in the temple was forced to open the vat by ignorant villains and was killed by iron. It's very sad! During the cultural revolution, after the temple was completely destroyed, "living Buddha" was forced to open again. It is said that when the jar was opened, the sky was full of thunder and lightning, and the wind and rain came. Suddenly, a large number of bees poured out from the top of the master's head to rush at the people who opened the jar, stung them and made them black and blue, and fled everywhere. People were stunned. They all said it was Providence and retribution. Only in this way can the "living Buddha" survive and be preserved.
According to the old people, although Buddhism was strictly forbidden during the cultural revolution, believers still secretly came to the temple at night to worship and fulfill their vows. It is known that the master liked to eat Ba, especially glutinous rice ba. Every year on October 23 of the lunar calendar, the pilgrims would send Ba to worship him. This custom has been handed down to this day.
Later, people worshipped master Zhen as the nine Saint Buddha. Today, people are used to calling him "the old living Buddha". After the arrival of Abbot shixinguang in 2001, he built the "moon body Palace" specially for master Zhen. Now, the "old living Buddha" sits with his head down in the palace of moon body, as if he is still reciting the Scriptures and reciting the universal salvation. If the legend is true, then the true master, who has become a "living Buddha", will surely cross all living beings with his own sufferings. Today, Yuanpu temple incense gradually prosperous, with a face of respect and devout pilgrims and tourists constantly.
In 2008, relevant media interviewed Yuanpu temple. According to the analysis of Mr. Zhang Jianchu in Anqing, after 230 years of real life of the monk, he should be ranked third in the number of years of Chinese Buddhist real life monk.
Real monk Zongsheng
Shi Zongsheng, common name: Chen Youyang, a native of Liangting Township, Huaining County, was born in 1926;
He served in the Kuomintang army before liberation, and returned to his hometown to work in agriculture after liberation;
He began to teach in Liangting Primary School of Huaining County in 1955 and retired in 1983. In 1993, he became the first abbot of Yuanpu temple;
On March 4, 2006 (the fifth day of the second lunar month), it passed away. Three days later, it was sealed into the tower. The successive appearance of real monks also made Yuanpu Temple more famous in the Buddhist world. Abbot monk Shi Xinguang said that March 1, 2009 is the fifth day of the second month of the lunar calendar, which is the day to open a jar for old monk Shi Zongsheng.
Because of the continuous rain, I was worried that it would affect the opening ceremony. Unexpectedly, it was sunny for most of the day, and there was sunshine. What's more amazing is that old monk shizongsheng's white hair turned black when he opened the jar. It's a good talk!
