In the local inscriptions of Pumiao Town, there is a saying that there has been a temple since the market opened. Because the main hall of the temple is dedicated to the northern emperor, the left wing room is dedicated to the dragon mother and the queen of heaven, and the right wing room is dedicated to the three realms and Fubo. Together, there are five gods, which are called the five saints. Therefore, the five saints Palace gets its name.
Wusheng palace is a brick and wood structure with double-layer green bricks and glazed tiles. It is divided into front and back rooms and East and West rooms, with a total area of 600 square meters and a construction area of 483 square meters. There are side rooms and passages on both sides of the front and rear seats. The main hall worships the northern emperor, the East Hall worships the dragon mother and the queen of heaven, and the West Hall worships the Fubo and the three realms, so it is called the five saints palace. It has always been a sacred place for people to burn incense and worship Buddha. On the first or fifteenth day of the lunar new year every month, there is an endless stream of people from other places and the local people.
Inside and outside the walls of wusheng palace, there are false clear water walls. Inside and outside the overhanging eaves and walls are decorated with figures, flower and wood reliefs, gouache and other reliefs and murals. The top ridge of the front hall is decorated with two dragons playing with pearls, and the two sides are decorated with figures for performance. There are stone lions, carp and other sculptures on the eaves and roof of the hall and outdoor. Wusheng palace is a well preserved Qing Dynasty building with historical research value in Yongning County (Note: Yongning County was set up as a district in 2005). It has been listed as a cultural relic protection unit in Nanning city.
The third renovation
According to historical records, since the wusheng palace was built, it was only repaired twice in 1794 and 1886. Many years of wind and rain damage and man-made destruction have caused serious rain leakage on the roofs of the gate building, the main hall and other buildings of wusheng palace. Many horizontal bars, tiles, beams and columns are decayed and in danger of collapse. Many Gallery sculptures and murals outside the palace are submerged by the historical sandstorm, and the art sculptures on the main ridge and side ridge of the wharf have disappeared. This Qing Dynasty building, which gathers exquisite ancient folk art, has been built The gradual loss of the former style has been lamented by many people.
At the end of October 2004, when the main person in charge of Nanning municipal government inspected Yongning County (Note: Yongning County was divided into districts in 2005), Nanning Municipal Finance decided to allocate 100000 yuan for the repair of wusheng palace, which opened the prelude of the third repair of wusheng palace.
In order to inherit and protect the excellent historical and cultural heritage, Nanning city and Yongning District invested 250000 yuan on November 7, 2004, and raised nearly one million yuan from the people. The cultural relics team of the autonomous region was entrusted to repair the wusheng palace in Tuanjie Street (now Pujin Road) of Pumiao town. In this repair, the roof, beam, ground, clear water wall, ridge carving, eaves carving, mural and wharf wall of wusheng palace were restored and replaced.
The whole renovation project was completed at the end of September 2005, and the ceremony of reopening the newly renovated wusheng palace was held in early October 2005.
The legend of the five saints in the five saints Palace
According to historical records, Xuanwu, one of the five saints, was worshipped in the five saints palace. It was the God of the north in ancient Chinese mythology and later believed in by Taoism. Its image was the combination of tortoise and snake, also known as the God of water. It has always been worshipped by the local people for those who seek wealth and happiness.
In the left wing of wusheng palace, there are statues of Mother Dragon and Empress Dowager. Mother dragon is the God of Wuzhou in Guangxi and Zhaoqing in Guangdong. Empress dowager is Mazu in Fujian and Taiwan. They are regarded as the symbols of longevity and filial piety for the old and the young. They are also called the Empress Dowager.
In the right wing of wusheng palace, there are statues of the three realms and Fubo gods. The three realms are the local folk gods in charge of the heaven, earth and water realms. Fubo is Ma Yuan, who served as general Fubo during the Jianwu period of the Han Dynasty and was regarded as the God of Exorcism and evil. In order to be safe and ensure the safety of their families, the local people also believe in the three realms and Fubo.
Because there are many rumors about the five holy palaces, people come to worship on the first and the fifteenth day of the lunar new year.
Mysterious phenomenon of wusheng Palace
1. There are no leaves on the tile surface of the middle hall of wusheng palace
In the middle hall of wusheng palace, the silver pillow peak behind is high and steep, and eight or nine hundred year old trees stand tall. However, for a long time, there was no need to clean the tile surface of the middle hall. After a few days, the fallen leaves were blown clean by the wind. This phenomenon can not be explained except for the explanation that the ancients chose the place of the wind outlet to make the wind clean the leaves on the tile surface of the wusheng palace.
2. On the third anniversary of the completion of the maintenance of wusheng palace, Double Dragons and pearls are in the sky
October 8, 2005 is the date for the third celebration of the completion of the maintenance of wusheng palace. The day before, according to the local custom, we held the folk sacrificial activities such as asking God to return to his throne. From the morning to about 4:30 p.m., the cloud image of double dragons playing with pearls appeared on the sky above the wusheng palace, which was the same as the ridge carving pattern on the head door of the wusheng palace. It took more than ten minutes. These are difficult to explain clearly with the word "coincidence".
