Henan gymnasium was built in 1955, with a two-story wall, a football field in the middle, a circular track and rows of seats around. It is like a shrinking basin. It was the main sports training base in Henan in the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China.

It could hold ten thousand people, and was the place for important public meetings in the provincial capital at that time.

Henan gymnasium is the largest indoor gymnasium in Zhengzhou, which can accommodate more than 5000 spectators. Youth basketball and rhythmic gymnastics training classes have been held all year round (many students participated in the training classes have achieved good results in provincial and municipal competitions many times, and some of them have been given priority to admission by key junior high schools, senior high schools and universities).
