Benediction Temple
Baoen temple, originally located in cangzibuji, is located at the south foot of Qinglong mountain in Daoguan River scenic spot and the North Bank of Daoguan river reservoir, covering an area of 134 Mu and a construction area of 12000 square meters.
Baoen temple was built in the spring of 1989 and completed in the autumn of 1994 with the donation of the contemporary eminent monk Ben Huan.
Brief introduction to temples
Baoen temple is located at the south foot of Qinglong mountain and the North Bank of Daoguanhe reservoir in Daoguanhe scenic area, Xinzhou District, Wuhan City, covering an area of 134 Mu and a construction area of about 20000 square meters. The temple is composed of Mountain Gate, Tianwang hall, Daxiong hall, bell tower, Drum Tower, Guanyin hall, jade Buddha Hall, Dharma hall, Zhaitang, etc.
The whole temple is close to the mountain and the water. It is solemn and majestic.
In the Jade Buddha Hall, Sakyamuni's Reclining Buddha is carved from a whole piece of white marble. The statue is vivid and peaceful. It lies on the high couch. The statue is 5.7 meters long, 1.5 meters high and 9.7 tons heavy. It is the first white marble Reclining Buddha in the Chu Dynasty.
In the main hall, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas are majestic, either sitting or standing, or meditating, or saying, with different shapes and lifelike, which can be called the first Hall of Chutian.
The beginning of the construction
The temple was first built in the period of emperor xiaoyantianjian (502-519 A.D.) of Liang Dynasty. In the Southern Song Dynasty, it was renamed Shenxiao palace in the period of Zhao jixuanhe (1119-1125 A.D.) of Huizong of Song Dynasty. Later, it was changed into Baoen temple, and was named plaque by Prime Minister Li Gangshu.
Qin Zi, the brother of Qin Hui, the infamous Prime Minister of Southern Song Dynasty, lived in seclusion next to Baoen temple in Liyang, so Baoen temple is also called Qingong temple. Qin Huoyu, the eldest son of Qin Zi, who was born as a Jinshi, wrote the inscription of Baoen temple. Unfortunately, the inscription has not been handed down. It has been about 1500 years since Baoen temple was built in the reign of Liang Tianjian in the Southern Dynasty, and it has been more than 900 years since it was moved to Huangjia village outside Licheng city It is still an ancient temple with a long history.
Reconstruction period
The old and new temples were rebuilt in 1994, covering an area of 33350 square meters. There are stone tortoises in the new temple, which are used as the base of steles. Because there is no stone on it, the cultural relics left behind are now moved to Baoen temple in Tianmu Lake area. Now it is recorded in the record of rebuilding Baoen temple.
Abbot of Sishui
Old monk benhuan, whose ancestral home is Xinzhou, Hubei Province
He was born in 1907 in Guangxu of Qing Dynasty. He was a monk in Baoen Temple of Xinzhou at the age of 22. He was ordained in Baotong Temple of Wuchang in 1930. In June of the same year, he went to GaoMin Temple of Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province to worship master Laiguo as a teacher. He practiced here for seven years.
In February 1937, he made a great wish to pay homage to Wutai Mountain. Later, he lived in Bishan temple. In September 1939, he was honored as the third generation abbot of the temple. During this 10-year hard work, he copied a Book of "common sages' vows" with his finger blood, with a total of 19 volumes and 200000 words.
The highly respected Master benhuan is the first disciple of Xuyun, the leader of modern Zen.
The origin of prosperity
The name of Baoen temple is derived from the Buddhist Sutra of heart and earth, and the great convenience Buddhist Sutra of repaying kindness. It was first built in 506 A.D. during the reign of Xiao Yantian Jian, the emperor of Liang Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty. It has been more than 1500 years. From 1090 A.D. to the fifth year of Tianyou in the Southern Song Dynasty, it was called "Qingong Temple". From 1119 to 1125, it became "Shenxiao Palace" and then corrected as usual. Prime Minister Li Gang inscribed a plaque. In the Yuan Dynasty, Baoen Temple once flourished.
