Settle down in Beijing
Quiet building
Xiao Jun, a writer from Jinzhou, came to Beijing in early 1951 from the Ministry of culture of the Northeast Bureau in Shenyang. He settled in a small courtyard at No.6 Yaer Hutong on the Bank of Shichahai, on the second floor of a western style building. There are eight spacious rooms upstairs and downstairs. There is a wide open space around the small building, paved with cobblestone flower corridor, planted with pine and cypress, clove, jujube, elm, etc. The owner of the house is Mr. Zhang Gongdu (a member of the "democratic revolution"). Xiao Jun introduced through a friend that he rented four bedrooms for his family. He also installed electric lights at his own expense. Unfortunately, the sewers have been demolished. There is only a public tap installed in the courtyard downstairs. It is Xiao Jun's own responsibility to clean water upstairs and pour sewage downstairs (because his family members are women and children). Xiao Jun lives in a 25 square meter south room in the east of the building. There is a 17 square meter air platform in the south of the room. He often plays boxing and sword on the air platform to exercise. Looking from the fence, the green waves of the back sea are rippling, and the willows are on the bank. The environment is very fresh and beautiful. There are not many motor vehicles in front of the building. It is quiet and suitable for writing. Xiao Jun felt very much that "it's the right thing to do.".
Writing achievements
Here, he completed the novels the third generation, the mine in May, the history of the spring and Autumn period of Wu and Yue, and the Beijing script the spring and Autumn period of Wu and Yue.
There is only one tenant in the building.
Changes in the hospital
Snail House
After the "Cultural Revolution" began in 1966, the real estate was returned to the public, and a street factory was built in the courtyard. Dozens of tenants lived in the courtyard, and each built a small house. It became a veritable "courtyard". All day long, the sound of the machine was loud and the people were noisy. The former tranquility is gone forever. Two rooms of Xiao Jun's family have also been occupied. Except for his eldest son Xiao Ming, whose family of four live in a Westinghouse, Xiao Jun's wife and five other children are all crowded in the room where he lives, and there is no room for him to write. Only the corner less than 2 square meters of storage room layout into a writing room, named "Snail House". There is a desk with three drawers, a small bookcase and a desk lamp on it. Because there is no window, the lamp must be turned on when writing in the daytime. It's cold in winter and hot in summer. If you put another stool, there's no room for maneuver
Even though the dwelling is small, it's not too bad. Jiezi has two thousand people.
Live in the sky, and see in the mirror.
The body is still healthy, and the beacon fire is frequent, but the gallbladder is not cold.
Looking back at the past sixty-six years, I have been entertaining Qin and Jian for many years.
Xiao Jun said: "I lay eggs when I have a nest and sail when I have water. I don't wait for any good conditions." In this "Snail House", he wrote diligently. During the 1976 earthquake, in order to prevent the collapse of the building, Xiao Jun, who was nearly a young man, with the support of the Housing Authority, personally led his family members and other residents to participate in the repair work from beginning to end. In order to prevent snow and rain, Xiao Jun installed the glass window of the air table at his own expense and arranged it as a writing room.
Writing achievements
In cocho Curie, he completed dozens of essays and poems collected from the collection of notes of Xiao Hong's letters, notes of Lu Xun's letters to Xiao Jun and recent works of Xiao Jun.
Life and death
In 1980, after the CPC Central Committee and Beijing Municipal Party committee implemented the policy to rehabilitate Xiao Jun, the Beijing municipal government allocated a three bedroom unit near Xizhimen to Xiao Jun, and then "redeemed" the two rooms that had been forcibly occupied.
Since they joined the revolution, Xiao Jun and his wife have been under the supply system and without wages. After they arrived in Beijing, due to more than 30 years of ups and downs, Xiao Jun's works could not be published, there was no savings, there were too many children to bear, and they never had a comfortable house to write. He has lived in this private rental building for 37 years and has deep feelings. In the 1950s, the owner was willing to sell the small building to Xiao Jun for 2000 yuan, but he was unable to buy it. In the 1980s, the owner sold the building for 50000 yuan, and Xiao Jun was even more unable to buy it. How he hoped to live in the small building forever!
At the end of 1987, the municipal government allocated him a new residence in Maolin residential area of Muxidi, but he still attached to the small building and did not want to leave. On June 22, 1988, he finally closed his eyes forever beside the "Snail House" on the Bank of Shichahai.
After Xie Shihou, Xiao Jun often had people come to visit his former residence. People stand in front of the window, overlooking the blue boat on the lake, the weeping willows and poplars along the coast, lush and full of vitality; overlooking the west mountain, the long clear haze is like a screen curtain, but also like the smoke clouds of history. They are still lingering around Shichahai and Xiao Jun's former residence in Beijing
