Like Jinma Biji square and Dongxi Temple pagoda, it is the symbol and pride of Kunming City, also known as the Lizhengmen.
The predecessor of the recent building
In the Qing Dynasty, the governor of Yunnan and Guizhou changed the name of Lizhengmen to Nirvana after he came to Kunming. The city tower on the gate was also called nirvana. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the area around jinjilou was the main commercial center of Kunming, where a large number of goods were distributed. In the 1950s, the building was demolished recently.
Reasons for naming
As early as the 14th year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1381 AD), Zhu Yuanzhang set up the chief secretary in Yunnan, and Mu Ying was appointed as the governor. The next year, muying built Kunming city. At that time, the city wall around old Kunming was built with big green bricks, with a total of six gates opened. The south gate was called "Chongzheng gate", and the tower was called "Xiangming tower". Originally, the South was bright, but some people thought it contained the meaning of respecting Daming. Here is just the traffic hub, commonly known as "big south city".
During the reign of Emperor Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, fan Chengxun, the governor of Yunnan and Guizhou, felt that it was inappropriate to respect the Ming Dynasty rather than the Qing Dynasty. However, it was difficult to change his name. Look at the big south city. It faces south from north. The bottom of the building is about 60 meters wide from east to west, 40 meters long from north to south, and more than 20 meters high. At that time, it was no exaggeration to say that it was tall and majestic. If you go upstairs and shout, you will definitely feel like you are in the nearest place to the sun. "The red sun is near and the white clouds are low when you look back." isn't this kind of artistic conception reflected in the city of Danan? Therefore, the old Kunming people suggested that the building be renamed "jinilau". For a while. This name makes the Great South City of Kunming more famous.
Remote reconstruction
In the 1950s, because of the expansion of Dongfeng Road in the center of Kunming, the building was demolished. In order to develop tourism, the Kunming municipal government decided in 2002 to relocate the building between the East and West pagodas, and build a pedestrian street to restore the "old Kunming" style. On April 20, the street was opened.
Since the opening of the pedestrian street, more than 10000 people come to this pedestrian street to visit "old Kunming" every day, and more than 30000 people come to this pedestrian street on holidays. During the May Day holiday, there are more tourists every day. There are not only Kunming citizens, but also overseas Kunming tourists, tourists from all over the country, and foreigners with blue eyes and yellow hair.
The most noticeable group on the pedestrian street is a group of "bronze statues of a hundred year old Kunming city well", which consists of five groups of bronze sculptures: "horse Gang", "chess", "Gengfu", "Buwan" and "peddler woman". In the late Qing Dynasty and the period of the Republic of China, recently, in front of the building was a place for business, and the street in front of the building was called "Shangshi Street". These sculptures vividly reproduce the old Kunming, solidify the local customs and customs in the modern city, and become the scenery that people can't see enough. Walking into the tall gate of the building, the hall on the left is a picture of old Kunming taken by a Frenchman in the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China. These photos include the street features, market transactions, official reception and seeing off of Kunming in those days, and many people visit them every day. The hall on the right side of the gate is the old Kunming style cartoon exhibition. Every day, many men and women, old and young, take their notebooks to watch and write them down. Many of the people who read and write at the same time are students who are studying.
Today, the building has moved nearly 900 meters south of its original site. The original Zhongai square, Jinma square and Biji square are also in the north. The original site is the central part of Nanping pedestrian street, which is the most prosperous and characteristic area in Kunming.
Cover the lock shaft
There used to be a small old house between the East and West pagodas in the center of Kunming. It was guarded in history. There was a well in it. According to local legend, it was locked with a dragon. The East and West pagodas belonged to the Dragon Town (the so-called heavenly king and earth tiger, pagoda and river demon). Because the dragon was restless, it opened a well to let it out. Those who had seen the well said that the well water was deep and fragrant. In 2002, the recent building was relocated and rebuilt here, which just dealt with the old well and the old house, which were not easy to deal with, because the building could be built without filling in the well and keep its original shape (some strange legends were not easy to deal with, such as suolongjing of Beixinqiao in Beijing, and the subway construction also considered not to move its location. Because of the strange legend, the "ancient building Jingwei" in Kunming built a museum later) .
