Baishuisi Forest Park

Baishuisi park is located in Yanshan, Fangshan District, southwest of Beijing, only 3 kilometers away from the center of Yanshan city. It is a cultural relic protection unit in Beijing.

Because there is Baishui mountain stream in front of the temple, it is called Baishui Xinglong temple, or Baishui temple for short. The temple is also known as the Great Buddha Temple because it worships three giant stone Buddhas.

Baishuisi park is a part of xihuling mountain. The area is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with an altitude of 118-208 meters and a natural drop of 90 meters, with an average gradient of 22.5%. It is 900 meters long from northwest to Southeast and 400 meters wide from northeast to southwest, with a total area of 840 mu.

brief introduction

The stone pavilion of Baishui temple was built during the reconstruction of Changyuan in Wanli period of Ming Dynasty. It is a granite Pavilion style beamless building. It is beautiful and picturesque. Stone pavilion south, the plane is square, its appearance is double Square Pavilion. The gate of the pavilion opens to the south, and there are two symmetrical roll shaped stone vessels on both sides. The stone vessels are just at the top of the head of the Sakyamuni Buddha in the pavilion. Light from three different directions into the pavilion, three huge stone Buddha outline is clear. The setting of the rolling door not only highlights the characteristics of the Buddhist temple building, but also adds the decoration of the building. At the same time, it achieves the ideal lighting effect, which can be described as unique.

In the stone pavilion of Baishui temple, three stone Buddhas, with their backs to the north and south, stand on the lotus seat of plate-shaped stone carvings. The stone Buddha is carved from granite. Sakyamuni is in the middle, Ananda on the left and JIAYE on the right. Sakyamuni is 5.8 meters tall, Ananda and JIAYE are slightly shorter. The Buddha's face is plump and mellow, with a serene and solemn manner. The stone Buddha has clear lines, smooth clothing patterns and simple shapes. It is a treasure of stone carving art. According to Professor Su Bai of Peking University and other experts and scholars, the stone Buddha was carved in the Yuan Dynasty and has a history of hundreds of years. Baishui temple stone Buddha is the largest stone Buddha in Beijing. It is an important object to study the Buddhist culture and statues in Beijing. It has been listed as a municipal cultural relics protection unit.

In 1984, the people's Congress of the former Yanshan district decided to turn it into a scenic spot. After that, roads were paved one after another, and tombs were moved. In 1993, the Beijing Municipal Administration of cultural relics appropriated funds and the Yanshan Office raised funds to carry out protective renovation of the existing stone pavilion. The stone bridge of Baishui temple was rebuilt, the HUYUN pavilion was built on the top of the mountain, and a reservoir was built. The Baishui temple, which has experienced many vicissitudes, has taken on a new look. There are Toona sinensis, Prunus davidiana, Wisteria sinensis, Vitex negundo, Ziziphus jujuba, etc. scattered in this area. Since 1984, while retaining the original woody plants, Yanshan Office has successively planted large-scale trees and shrubs such as weeping willow, Robinia pseudoacacia, Platycladus orientalis, juniper, Pinus tabulaeformis, Liquidambar formosana, torch, etc., as well as some apple, peach and other fruit trees. Over the past few years, more than ten thousand trees have been planted. During the Eighth Five Year Plan period, in order to record afforestation activities, xihuling greening monument was set up. Taking Baishui temple as the center, Baishui Temple Forest Park will be built. In 1997, the huanshanyuan road was built, 2500 meters long, which is convenient for tourists to visit. The ancient Baishui temple, with its unique historical and cultural existence, has merged into the life of the times.

Now Baishui Temple Forest Park has begun to take shape, with continuous mountains, deep valleys, abrupt rocks and clear streams. The towering ancient temples are hidden among the pines and cypresses, winding paths among the flowers, red leaves and bright morning clouds, birds singing and iron horses singing in concert. Eagles are wandering along the cliff, bees and butterflies are flying among the flowers.
