Fanghezhou
Fanghezhou is located on the Bank of Southwest lake, Chengnan Road, Jiaxing City, across from the ecological oasis of Southwest lake. Fanghezhou covers an area of about 52000 square meters, including 9714 square meters of water area.
Crane island in Tang Dynasty, Lu Zhi, the prime minister, built a garden on crane island. Because there was a crane Pavilion in the garden, it was called Hezhu. In Tang Dynasty, Pei Xiu, the prime minister, built a villa on the island and changed it to Peidao. In Southern Song Dynasty, Zhu Dunru, a famous poet, lived in Jiaxing and established Peidao as Fanghezhou. In the late Ming Dynasty, Fanghezhou was rebuilt by Zhu Mao, the governor of Guiyang. In the middle Qing Dynasty, Fanghezhou declined gradually.
In 2004, the South Lake scenic area was rebuilt as Fanghezhou, making it another important cultural and Leisure Spot in the South Lake scenic area. After reconstruction, the scenic spot of Fanghezhou maintains the natural landform of surrounded by lakes, Zhongduo Qushui and Pingan miscellaneous trees. The main function is to have a rest and enjoy the scenery, supplemented by lotus pond, Lingtang, fish pond and orchard. Along the lake gate, pavilions and pavilions, the layout is built according to the situation, striving for natural ecology. Indifferent house, GUI Li hall and Jia Fu hall are the most important antique garden buildings in Fanghezhou, which embody the style of Tang and Song dynasties.
