Changdao County, a county under the jurisdiction of Yantai City, Shandong Province, is also known as Miaodao archipelago and Changshan Archipelago. Historical evolution

Changdao was a place of Laiyi in ancient times. In Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Huangxian county. In the third year of Tang Dynasty (707 AD), it was under the jurisdiction of Penglai county. In 1929, Changshan Island administrative region was set up, which is subordinate to Shandong provincial government. In August 1945, Changshan Island special zone was established, which is under the exclusive jurisdiction of Beihai. After the liberation of Long Island in August 1949, Changshan Island special zone was still established. In May 1956, Changdao County was subordinate to Laiyang District, and then to Yantai district.
