Mao Zedong youth art sculpture
The youth art sculpture of Mao Zedong, located at juzizhoutou, Changsha, will add color to Mingzhou through the culture of great men. It is the representative work of red island. The sculpture is based on the image of Mao Zedong in his youth in 1925, which highlights the ambitious and flourishing spirit of a great man in his youth. It was created by liming of Guangzhou Academy of fine arts and designed by Hunan Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd
. The youth art sculpture of Mao Zedong is 32 meters high, 83 meters long and 41 meters wide, with a base of 3500 square meters. It is made up of more than 8000 pieces of Yongding red granite from the mountains of Fujian Province.
Design background
With a total weight of about 2000 tons, it was created by liming of Guangzhou Academy of fine arts and designed by Hunan Architectural Design Institute Co., Ltd.
The sculpture was reported by Changsha Municipal Party committee to Hunan provincial Party committee in February 2007 and approved by the general office of the CPC Central Committee before construction
. The sculpture is based on the image of Mao Zedong in his youth in 1925, with strong visual effect and artistic appeal, as well as the perfect combination with the natural environment of Orange Island.
Design features
The head of the sculpture shows Mao Zedong meditating at the head of Orange Island through expression depiction, which shows young Mao Zedong's "worry about the world". The base of the sculpture is designed as Mao Zedong's shoulder, which means standing on the shoulders of giants, remembering history and looking forward to the future. The whole shoulder is a huge mountain covering an area of more than 1000 square meters, which is used to show Mao Zedong's "ambition". The height of 32 meters symbolizes the immortal poem "Qinyuan spring Changsha" written by Mao Zedong when he was 32 years old. The exhibition room will be designed inside the mountain to show the elegant demeanor of a generation of great people to future generations through high-tech sound, light, electricity and other means.
Characteristics of sculpture
More than 8000 stones are from Fujian
Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture is composed of more than 8000 pieces of stone, with a total weight of more than 2000 tons. All of them come from Fujian, which is called "yongdinghong" granite. Fujian is more than 1000 kilometers away from Changsha, with more than 150 trucks carrying them.
"Mao Zedong's youth art sculptures have very high requirements for materials. They should not only have uniform surface texture and good texture, but also have hard materials and consistent colors. The climate and acid rain season in Changsha should also be resistant to acid and alkali, weathering and freezing, and the rate of finished products should be high." Chen Rongjia, chairman of Fujian Rongfa Stone Industry Co., Ltd., who is responsible for the stone processing, production and installation, told reporters that the stone of Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture is produced in the mine of Yongding village, Yongding Township, Yongding County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. "Yongding red" is warm in color, with uniform, detailed and clear patterns, which can well express the artistic feeling of sculpture. Chen Rongjia said that they are very proud to be able to provide materials for Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture. They have selected more than 10 mining areas and compared them for many times. All the stones in this sculpture are from one mine.
The sculpture magnification error is less than 3mm
In fact, the sculpture model is only half of the actual size, and it is very difficult to enlarge it to the actual size of 1:1. Chen Rongjia said: "amplification is different from creation. It can only be operated strictly according to the data. The error of amplification can not exceed 3mm. It requires one-time synthesis during trial assembly."
Feng Qinfeng, manager of stone assembly project of Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture, told reporters that in the specific construction, a 1:2 model sculpture was made first, and then the FRP model was divided into blocks according to the contour line, and then the stone was cut according to the block number, and then the stone was processed and polished. Each link was completed by accurate computer calculation and traditional technology. After more than 8000 pieces of stone are cut from the mine, they are all numbered according to the predetermined position, and then processed according to the numbering order. After processing, they are transported to the site and assembled according to the numbered position. After the assembly, fine adjustment and finishing are carried out. At present, the sculpture presented in front of people has entered the final finishing stage.
The sculpture is covered with waterproof "lotus leaf"
"After the sculpture is completed, the surface will also be covered with a layer of stone protective agent. In rainy days, this layer of protective agent will form a" lotus leaf effect "on the surface of the sculpture. The rain drops on the surface just like the lotus leaf, forming water droplets, instead of penetrating into the stone, resulting in different shades of dry and wet color difference." The heavy rain in Changsha these days, no matter from which point of view, there is no color difference in the statues, and there will never be different shades due to the rain penetrating into the stone layer.
In the structure, there are 57 layers of steel structure in the sculpture, each layer has 12 fixed control coordinates, at the same time, each stone has 4 control points. During the installation, the positioning is strictly controlled according to the three-dimensional coordinates, without any deviation. For example, the stone with a mole carved on the chin is on the fourth floor of the steel structure, and its position can be determined according to the three-dimensional composite coordinates, so that the stone can be accurately installed in place.
More than ten procedures for hanging a stone
It is reported that the structure of the sculpture has three layers from the inside to the outside. The innermost layer is reinforced concrete structure, the middle is steel structure, and the outermost layer is dry hanging stone.
A seemingly simple "hang" actually contains more than a dozen processes. Feng Qinfeng told reporters that more than 8000 pieces of stone, the heaviest has more than 1 ton, the lightest also has more than 300 kg. In the specific assembly process, the stone is lifted to the air by tower crane, then positioned by manual hoist, and finally welded on the steel structure. These difficult installation technologies are completed by skilled stone installation workers from Fujian.
After the location is determined, it is necessary to fix the stone manually. The workers have to climb between the concrete layer and the steel structure layer to fix and weld. The space is very small. The sparks of welding often burn the skin. The highest temperature in the heat reaches more than 40 degrees Celsius. However, the workers do it with a reverence for Mao Zedong. None of them complain, and all of them pursue perfection.
Natural light and shadow create deep eyes
Eyes are the windows of the soul. In Mao Zedong's youth art sculptures, eyes are also the most attractive and can best reflect the essence, spirit and spirit of Young Mao Zedong.
The sculpture stands at the head of Orange Island, which is praised by many citizens. The eyes of the sculpture vividly represent the broad mind and inspirational passion of Young Mao Zedong. Some people think that the eyes of sculptures are inlaid with reflective glass stones, so they will have reflective effect. Feng Qinfeng explains that the sculptures are all assembled with granite stones, and the eyes are no exception. The reason why they have deep eyes is that they create deep effects by hollowing out the pupil and relying on the natural projection relationship. "The whole sculpture uses more than ten stones only for the eyes, the heaviest of which is 1 ton, which can only be transported to the designated parts by tower crane."
The longest floating hair is 7.58m
The installation of hair is also the difficulty of stone assembly. According to liming, the author of Mao Zedong's youth art sculpture, this elegant hairstyle is based on a photo taken by Mao Zedong in Guangzhou in 1925. Young Mao Zedong in Orange Island head, long hair is blown by the wind, art design will restore this image. Elegant hairstyle is also made of granite with a weight of 700 kg. It is understood that the floating hair on the right side of the sculpture is 7.58 meters long, which is the longest overhanging part in the installation.
