About the author

Fan Chengda (1126-1193) was a poet of the Southern Song Dynasty. Zhineng, Youyuan and Yousheng, is a native of Wu county (now Jiangsu Province) in Suzhou. During the Shaoxing period, Jinshi successively served as Zhi Chuzhou, Zhi Jingjiang Prefecture, Guangnan Xidao administration and pacification envoy, Sichuan Zhi Zhi envoy, and political counsellor. Once made gold, strong and unyielding, several were killed. In his later years, he retired to Shihu, his hometown, and died as wenmu. His poems have a wide range of themes, and are as famous as Lu You, Yang Wanli and you Mao. They are called "four masters of Zhongxing" or "four masters of Southern Song Dynasty". It is also famous for its Ci and Fu. His works are rich, including Shi Hu Ju Shi Ji, Shi Hu Ci, GUI Hai Yu Heng Zhi, Wu Chuan Lu and Wu Jun Zhi, with more than 1900 poems.
