Mojiang Confucian temple is a key cultural relic protection unit in Yunnan Province. It adopts the ancient Chinese style of overhanging eaves and Xieshan.

Historical origin
Mojiang Confucian temple, located in the northeast corner of Mojiang Hani Autonomous County, Yunnan Province, was built in the first year of Daoguang (1821 AD). The whole building is divided into six layers, built in accordance with the mountain, connected layer by layer, with more than 200 stone steps directly above, which is magnificent.
Confucian temple is a longitudinal courtyard complex, which is composed of gate, panchi, new building, Wujing building, Chongwen Pavilion, Kuixing Pavilion, Lingxing gate, Xingxiu gate, Xiangxian temple, Minghuan temple, east-west wing room, tianzitai, Dacheng hall, houdian, steward's room, guest room, quanxue hall and other buildings. The main buildings are of tenon structure, solid and magnificent.
Main building
The main building of the Confucian temple is Dacheng hall, which is a wooden structure with double eaves and beams. In front of the hall, there is a Tianzi platform surrounded by stone railings. In the middle of the platform, nine vivid dragons are carved. The main hall is 20 meters wide and 15 meters deep. Confucius' memorial tablet is placed in the middle of the hall. Kuixing Pavilion and Lingxiao Pavilion of his highness Dacheng have high cornices, which give people the feeling of flying in the air. Standing in the Kuixing Pavilion, you can have a panoramic view of Mojiang city and the green fields in the south of the city. Looking up from the county seat, you can see layers of buildings going up step by step, which is very spectacular.

Construction scale
The Confucian temple covers an area of 7600 square meters, with a construction area of 1600 square meters. There are two side doors on the left and right of the temple. The right door is hung with the word "depeitiandi" and the left door is hung with a plaque of "Daoguan ancient and modern". After entering the mountain gate, the building rises layer by layer along with the terrain and reaches the peak. There are six platforms, and each platform is connected up and down with three stone steps of equal series on the left, middle and right, with distinct layers and mutual symmetry. In addition, the stone lion archway blocks the sight of the high mountains.
From the foot of the mountain to the top of the mountain, the first platform has gate, panchi and Pangong; the second platform has Daonan academy and Jingmeng two halls; the third platform has Kuixing Pavilion, Lingxing gate and Chongwen Pavilion; the fourth platform has Xiangxian temple, zhonglieci temple and Jiexiao temple; the fifth platform has apricot altar and east-west two verandas; the sixth platform has Dacheng hall and accessory hall.
Dacheng hall is the main building of the whole Confucian temple complex. From the apricot altar to the hall along the stone steps, you can see the three words "Dacheng hall" hanging high and vertical, and the words "Sven zaizi" hanging horizontally below, the words "Deqi chouzi" on the left, and the words "shengxie Shizhong" in regular script on the right, which gives you a sense of majesty.
Hall style
In the front of the hall, there are eight big pillars that two people hold together. Behind the two meter wide eaves, there are eight carved hollow screen doors. The threshold is thick and high. On the top of the screen door are 28 round boards, on which are engraved the names of 28 groups of stars observed by ancient astronomers, namely: in the East, there are horns, Kang, Shi, Fang, Xin, Wei and Ji; in the north, there are Dou, Niu, Nu, Hu, Wei, Shi and Bi; in the north, there are Dou, Niu, Nu, Hu, Wei, Shi and BI; In the west, there are Kui, Lou, Wei, Pleiades, Bi, Zui and Shen; in the south, there are Jing, GUI, Liu, Xing, Zhang, Yi and Lu. 28 nights, clouds and moon.
cultural meaning
Entering the main hall, the front is a three meter high Confucius memorial tablet, which is engraved with ten big words of "the position of Confucius, the supreme sage of Dacheng". On the stone steps in the center of Dacheng hall, there is a rectangular blue stone dragon stele inlaid. In the "four clean and four old movement", Mojiang Confucian temple suffered serious damage, and this stele is missing. Since 1995, Mojiang County has carried out the construction of the Confucian temple After repairing in batches, the blue stone dragon carving stele was excavated under the cypress trees in Xingtan, which was inlaid in front of the main entrance of Dacheng hall.
