Wang Chongyou, a local scholar in the Qing Dynasty, said in his poem: "the towering mountains stand on the wasteland, and the light of the same color is purple. The huge stone is hanging in the air, which is very dangerous. From different angles, the shape of this huge stone is different: looking down from a high place, it looks like a faltering turtle; looking up from the bottom of the mountain, it looks like a galloping horse, lifelike. There is a cave next to the boulder. When the wind blows, there is a rustling sound in the cave from time to time, which is really charming. Since ancient times, people have praised this stone not only for its charming natural beauty, but also for its beautiful music, which is quite different from other places. There are also many beautiful legends such as Hong Lifang's tomb, weighing cloth coffin, "Banxian" Tang lie and BAISHILING betel nut. Hong Xin, the great master of metaphysics in the Qing Dynasty, once called BAISHILING "a fairy with full aura".

Folklore

Fairy Cave

Once upon a time, a group of fairies ventured down to BAISHILING at the third watch, just to stop at the peak of the mountain in the early morning to see the beautiful scenery of Wanquan River and the magnificent three rivers into the sea. As it was still early to go down to BAISHILING, they found this cave to rest until sunrise. On this day, when the sky was getting brighter, the fairies jumped out of the cave again. When they climbed the mountain and looked down, the queen mother found that the fairies were afraid and drove back to the palace. Who knows that one of the most beautiful fairies fell asleep and failed to return with the fairies, which led to a great marriage. All the fairies who went back to the heavenly palace were censured by the queen mother. Since then, they did not dare to go down to earth. In order to admire the fairies, the local people called the stone cave where the fairies lived "Fairy Cave".

Legend 2: Jieyuan stone

It is said that when a group of fairies came down to BAISHILING to visit the temple of heaven, they left behind a fairy who had a rest in the Fairy Cave (50 meters up). When the fairy wakes up, she can't find her companion fairy sisters. In the confusion, he lost his way and went down the mountain to look for his sister. When he was looking for this stone, suddenly, the wind was blowing around, and the sand was flying away. A huge sea spider monster with exposed tusks and venom came to the fairy. It was late, but it was fast. Three flying arrows shot at the sea spider monster, and the sea spider monster fell down. It turned out that a GUI, a farm boy who went up to the mountain to hunt, shot the sea spider monster to death in order to save the fairy. The fairy was moved by a GUI's kindness and bravery, so the two of them got married on this stone. In memory of their love, later generations called these two stones "Jieyuan stone"

Legend 3: Fairy footprints

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful fairy and a kind and brave GUI living in the Fairy Cave (20 meters down) in BAISHILING. They were men farming and women weaving, and they lived happily. They are kind-hearted. A GUI hunts and collects medicine on the mountain, while fairies treat people for free. Their kindness is widely praised by local people. Zhang, the rich man at the foot of the mountain, found that a GUI's daughter-in-law was beautiful, so he wanted to seize it. He took his family up the mountain and forced a GUI to make a contract with his wife. A GUI didn't answer. The rich man ordered his family to fight. A GUI fought hard, but because he was outnumbered, he was seriously injured and died. She stood on the stone slab at the top of the cave every day to mourn her beloved husband. As she grew older, the stone slab under her feet was worn out a footprint.

Legend 4: flying stone

According to legend, the fairy and the kind and brave ah GUI form a couple and live a happy life in BAISHILING. However, the villainous rich man Zhang wants to seize ah GUI's daughter-in-law when he learns that she is beautiful. When ah GUI didn't answer, the rich man ordered his family to fight. Ah GUI fought hard, but because he was outnumbered, he was seriously injured and died. When the fairy arrived, she brought the huge stone and put the rich man and his family on the edge of the cliff. She avenged a GUI for the local people. In addition to the great harm, she warned the world that doing evil would always be like facing the cliff. Looking up from the foot of the mountain, this big stone looks like flying from the sky, half of which soars into the air, so it is called "flying stone".

Legend 5: bailing spring

A long time ago, a couple of fairies lived in BAISHILING. Later, they were killed because of the lust of the local rich man Zhang. The fairies mourned for their husband and mourned for their husband at the top of the mountain day by day. They often washed their faces with tears, and the sad tears turned into springs. Moved by his true feelings, the Bodhisattva Guanyin thought that they would cure the villagers and decided to fulfill their merits. That is to say, he would sprinkle a bottle of water with willow branches and melt it into the spring water. Then the spring water would have the effect of curing all kinds of diseases and benefit the local people. The local people use this spring to boil medicine to cure the disease. At the same time, they call this spring Baishi Lingquan, or bailing spring for short.
