Hongfa Temple
Hongfa temple, located in Xianhu botanical garden, Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province, was founded in 1983. The temple covers an area of more than 30000 square meters, with more than 40 halls, halls, squatters, rooms, buildings and pavilions. Hongfa temple is the first temple built in China after 1949. As Hongfa temple is located in the forefront of China's reform and opening up in Shenzhen, adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, and facing Southeast Asia, Zhao Puchu and other leaders of the Chinese Buddhist Association have placed deep hopes on making Hongfa temple a first-class Buddhist cultural temple in China and a link of friendship with overseas Buddhist circles.
On August 31, 1990, with the approval of Shenzhen Municipal People's government, Hongfa temple was opened to the public as a place for religious activities.
Evolution of Architecture
In 1983, the Hongfa temple in Shenzhen began to be built.
On July 1, 1985, the ground of Hongfa temple was broken. Hongfa temple is different from any temple in China (repaired or rebuilt due to the damage caused by the Cultural Revolution). It is completely a new temple. It is also the first temple built in China after the founding of the people's Republic of China in 1949. At that time, at the invitation of the relevant departments in Shenzhen, monk Ben Huan led his disciples to pray for the foundation laying ceremony. After the completion of the main hall, the Sutra collection building and the heavenly king hall, the construction was suspended for some reasons. Under the care and promotion of Zhao Puchu, Hongfa temple was successfully completed.
In 1986, master benhuan wrote to Zhao Puchu, President of the Chinese Buddhist Association, asking him to name and write on his behalf. Mr. Zhao proposed to call it "Puxian Temple", but considering that the believers in Guangdong and Hong Kong do not worship Puxian Bodhisattva very much, master Zhengguo said that in order to promote Buddhism, it is better to call it "Hongfa Temple". Zhao agreed and wrote "Hongfa Temple" in his own handwriting and sent it to Ben Huan. At the same time, Ben Huan wrote to governor ye Xuanping, asking him to write an inscription. Governor Ye wrote the four words "Daxiong hall". The plaque of "Hongfa Temple" was made in 1986.
In May 1988, ban Chan, vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, sent the director of the office to Shenzhen to talk about the opening of the "Hongfa Temple", saying that he would write a report to the Secretariat of the Central Committee after returning to Beijing. Ms. sun suifang also wrote a letter to the main leaders of the municipal Party committee, asking for approval of the opening of "Hongfa Temple". She came to Shenzhen on November 12, 1988 and brought a personal letter from Zhu xuefan, which said that Ms. sun suifang was entrusted by Zhao Puchu to come to Shenzhen to interview the opening of "Hongfa Temple".
On August 31, 1990, with the approval of Shenzhen Municipal People's government, Hongfa temple was opened to the public as a place for religious activities.
In June 1992, the main building was basically completed. At the same time, the grand opening ceremony of Buddha statue and the promotion ceremony of elder benhuan was held. The municipal government officially approved the opening of the religious site to the outside world.
