Zhigu bridge, formerly known as Fenghua bridge, is the first half through all steel arch bridge in Tianjin, with a total length of 257 meters and a steel structure consumption of 7066 tons. Fenghua bridge is located at the upstream of Liuzhuang bridge on Haihe River. It is a part of nanheng expressway project in central urban area, connecting Dazhigu West Road in Hedong District and Fenghua Road in Hexi District. The bridge, 257.3 meters long, is the longest bridge on the Haihe River. The maximum width of the bridge is 58.5 meters. The bridge deck is designed as a two-way 6-lane bridge with pedestrian bridge and Landscape Road on both sides. It is always connected with the hydrophilic platform on both sides

Introduction of bridge body

The bridge has 27 flying arches, 68 pieces of steel structure "petals" and 296 suspenders, plus the steel deck, a total of 7500 tons of steel are needed, making it the largest cross sea River Bridge in the city. There are 27 arches in the whole bridge, and every three arches form a group of spans. The petal shaped steel structure sandwiched between the three arches. There are 68 petals in the whole bridge, and each petal is composed of two steel "triangles", which are called "steel pot cover" by engineers. There are 36 sizes of "steel pot cover". The largest side length is 7 meters and the weight is nearly 3 tons. The smallest side length is 3 meters and the weight is less than 1 ton. These light and smart "petals" are made of about 280 tons of steel

Bridge function

There are no piers in the river course of the bridge, and the spans on both sides respectively cross Heba road and Taierzhuang South Road. Pedestrian bridges and landscape footpaths are set up on the upstream and downstream sides of the main body of the bridge. The pedestrian bridge is set on the upstream side to ensure the smooth pedestrian traffic on both sides of the Strait, and the landscape trail is set on the downstream side to meet the communication of hydrophilic space on both sides of the Strait. The middle arch of the main span and the auxiliary span is located between the carriageways on both sides; the side arch of the main span and the auxiliary span is located between the carriageway and the landscape footpath and sidewalk.

Construction difficulties

Due to the unique design and high technical content, the construction difficulty of Fenghua bridge can also be called "the first in the world". In order to ensure the landscape effect of the bridge, every step of Fenghua bridge from assembly to welding must be operated in strict accordance with the accuracy of coordinate points. Any error may affect the overall effect. In order to ensure the safety of the bridge, the manufacturing of the steel structure and the treatment of the joints should also go through layers of checks, and a number of special processes will be used in the assembly and welding at the same time to make the bridge structure more solid.

Design and construction unit

Fenghua bridge is jointly designed by French mark manlang design office and Tianjin Urban Construction Design Institute, and constructed by the sixth company of urban construction group.

After the completion of Fenghua bridge, the traffic speed should reach the planned speed of 60 km / h on the expressway, which is faster than that of other bridges on the Haihe River with the speed of 20 km-30 km / h.

Fenghua bridge project includes bridge engineering, drainage engineering, road engineering, sunken road and embankment reconstruction. It starts from Bawei road in Hedong District and ends at Guangdong Road in Hexi District. Fenghua bridge project belongs to Fenghua Road project. It is the first half through all steel structure arch bridge in the city. The two auxiliary spans span Heba road and Taierzhuang South Road respectively. The bridge is a two-way six lane bridge. The maximum length of main span arch is 30m.
