Zunyi Medical College

Zunyi Medical College, formerly known as Dalian Medical College, was founded in 1947. It is the first undergraduate medical college founded by the Communist Party of China. In 1969, in order to support the "three line" construction, the State Council decided to move Juxue south to Zunyi, a famous historical and cultural city, and renamed Zunyi Medical College. After 66 years of construction and development, the university has become a provincial higher education institution with multi-disciplinary, multi-level, distinctive school running characteristics, strong school running strength and more than 15000 full-time students.

Zunyi Medical University is the first undergraduate medical university founded by the Communist Party of China after the victory of the Anti Japanese war. The school was founded in 1947, formerly known as Kanto medical college. In 1949, Kanto medical college was merged into Dalian University and renamed as Medical College of Dalian University. In 1950, Dalian University was abolished and Dalian Medical College became independent. In 1969, in order to support the "three line construction", the University moved to Zunyi and renamed Zunyi Medical College. In 2018, it was renamed Zunyi Medical University.

According to the official website of the University in January 2019, the university has three campuses: Xinpu campus, Dalian Road Campus and Zhuhai Campus, covering an area of more than 2500 Mu and collecting 1.3184 million books. It has 28 teaching departments and 30 undergraduate majors, with 8 first-class master's degree authorization points and 59 second-class master's degree authorization points. It has more than 16000 full-time students and 1090 full-time teachers.

Historical evolution

Medical College of Dalian University

In early 1947, in order to support the needs of the Northeast liberation war, Wang Bujun, Minister of health of Liaodong military region, prepared to establish Dalian Medical College in accordance with the instructions of his superiors. It was the first regular medical college founded by the Communist Party of China after the victory of the Anti Japanese War. In April, the school changed its name to Kanto medical college.

In April 1949, Dalian University was founded. Kanto medical college was incorporated into Dalian University and renamed as Medical College of Dalian University.

In July 1950, Dalian University was abolished and Dalian Medical College was established.

In 1953, the University became a university directly under the Ministry of health.

In 1955, it began to recruit graduate students.

 

In 1964, the Ministry of higher education of the State Council decided to move some universities to the third tier areas according to the instructions of the CPC Central Committee on the combination of peacetime and wartime, strengthening the concept of war and the construction of the third tier areas.

In 1965, the State Council officially decided to move Dalian Medical College to the south. The Ministry of higher education and the Ministry of health of the State Council have preliminarily determined that the school is located in Zigong City, Sichuan Province. In October, the Southwest Bureau decided to relocate to Guizhou. With the approval of the State Planning Commission, Dalian Medical College and its affiliated hospitals were determined to move southward to Zunyi, Guizhou Province, and the preparatory work was started in early 1966.

In February 1966, Dalian Medical College sent more than 30 people and a medical team of more than 20 people to Zunyi City. The team started to work in a small hotel near the railway station with the sign of "Preparatory Office of Zunyi Medical College". The medical team was stationed in Zunyi hospital and began to serve the people of Zunyi.

On May 9, 1969, the first special train arrived in Zunyi. Since then, Dalian Medical College has been renamed Zunyi Medical College.

In September 1980, in order to support the resumption of Dalian Medical College, the Ministry of education and the Ministry of Health decided to transfer part of the staff of Zunyi Medical College to Dalian and Shenyang.

In 1981, the University became one of the first batch of authorized units for master's degree in China.

 

In 1999, the University began to cooperate with Chongqing Medical University to train doctoral students.

 

In 2001, with the approval of Guizhou Province, the school signed a contract with Zhuhai City to build the Zhuhai Campus of Zunyi Medical College, which was completed and put into use in the summer of 2002.

In September 2003, the people's Hospital of Doumen District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province was officially listed as the fifth (Zhuhai) Hospital Affiliated to Zunyi Medical College.

In January 2005, School of medicine and science and technology of Zunyi Medical College was founded.

In 2006, the University became the joint doctoral training base of Shanghai University of traditional Chinese medicine.

In April 2008, it won the title of excellent university in undergraduate teaching evaluation of Ministry of education.

In August 2010, it was identified as a new university to carry out the work of promoting and exempting postgraduates.

In 2011, the University and Shanghai Jiaotong University began to jointly train doctoral candidates in anesthesiology.

 

In November 2012, the University was selected as the pilot University of the first batch of excellent doctor education and training program of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of health.

 

In 2013, the University became one of the first batch of Pilot Universities in the reform of training mode of clinical medicine master degree.

In December 2015, the school started the campus relocation and moved to Xinpu campus.

In June 2016, the University and China Hi Tech Group signed an agreement to jointly establish the school of medicine and science and technology of Zunyi Medical College. In October, the national health and Family Planning Commission signed an agreement with the people's Government of Guizhou Province to jointly build Zunyi Medical College. In the same year, he was selected as the basic ability construction project of universities in central and Western China.

 

In 2017, pharmacy won the first-class discipline project construction in Guizhou Province, and clinical medicine won the first-class discipline project construction in Guizhou Province.

Zunyi Medical University

In December 2018, the Ministry of education agreed that Zunyi Medical College should be renamed as Zunyi Medical University, and the school of medicine and science and technology of Zunyi Medical College, which was sponsored by Zunyi Medical College, should be renamed as Zunyi Medical University. In the same year, Zunyi Medical University and Soochow University officially launched the joint training of doctors. The Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University became the clinical doctor workstation of Soochow University and was approved as the postdoctoral research workstation.
