Yuncheng Yuwang City
Yuwang city site is located in Yuwang village, Miaohou Xinzhuang and Guoli village of Yuwang Township, Xiaxian County, Shanxi Province. It is about 3 kilometers away from simaguang tomb, a national key cultural relics protection unit, in the northwest. It is said that Xiayu once lived here, so it is commonly known as Yuwang city. According to textual research, Yuwang city is Anyi City, the capital of Wei state in the spring and Autumn period and Warring States period. It is also the seat of Hedong County in the Qin, Han and Jin Dynasties.
In the south of yuwangcheng site, Zhongtiao Mountain, Qinglong River, Tianyan River, Baisha River and Yaoxian canal flow through the southeast, and mingtiaogang lies in the northwest. The terrain is high in the north and low in the south. A more detailed investigation was made in the late 1950s. Since the 1990s, it has been investigated, drilled and excavated many times, and has gained a better understanding of its age, nature and connotation. Yuwang city site is divided into four parts: big city, middle city, small city and Yuwang temple. The small city is in the center of the big city, the Yuwang temple is in the southeast corner of the small city, and the middle city is in the southwest of the big city.
The city is shaped like a trapezoid, with a total area of 13 square kilometers. The north wall and the west wall are well preserved, generally 2 meters, up to 5 meters. The south wall and the east wall are poorly preserved, and the south section of the east wall has no trace. Except for the north wall, the other walls are not straight. The east wall is 1530 meters long, the west wall is about 4980 meters long, zigzagging with the terrain, which is the most curved of the four walls. The south wall is 3565 meters long, the north wall is 2100 meters long, and there are moats outside. The big city has not been excavated, and the cultural accumulation is generally about 2 meters thick. In the north of the city, there are ash pits and ash layers of the Warring States period. To the north of Miaohou Xinzhuang, which is to the east of the central part of the city, a handicraft workshop in the middle and late Warring States period was found. The cultural relics include pottery models of tools, hoes, oars and axes, flat head cloth pottery models, pottery pots, pots and irons. According to the material object and literature research, Dacheng is the capital of Wei in the Warring States period. Zhongcheng is square with a total area of 6 square kilometers. The north wall is 1522 meters long and 1-5 meters high, while the east wall is 960 meters long. There are abundant relics in the city, with a thickness of about 2 meters. There are relics of the Warring States period, but mainly of the Han Dynasty.
In recent years, archaeological excavations have been mainly carried out on both sides of the ancient Yunliang River and the South and north sides of the Sanmenxia highway in Taiyuan. The remains found include ash pits, pottery kilns, water wells, roads and semi underground working faces. There are many types of pottery pots, pots, tube tiles, plate tiles, tiles, bricks, coins, iron slag, blast pipe fragments, furnace slag, various pottery models, pottery molds, etc. There are half tile and round tile. The round tile can be divided into two types: cirrus pattern and the characters of "long live". The brick has the square character brick of "all the officials in the sea are rich and mature, and no one is hungry". Most of the pottery models are relics of the Western Han Dynasty, including ritual pottery models, five baht coin pottery models and four baht half Liang pottery models. According to the analysis of unearthed relics, Zhongcheng was later than Dacheng, and it should be Hedong Prefecture in Qin and Han Dynasties. The town covers a total area of 75.4 square meters, and its shape is a rectangle without the southeast corner. The west wall and the north wall are 930 and 855 meters long respectively, and the existing wall is between 1 and 4 meters long. The town is higher than the surrounding ground, the terrain is high in the West and low in the East, and the accumulation layer is about 3 meters thick. In the autumn of 1990, the unearthed relics include large pots, pots, steamers, small cauldrons, bowls and other container models; spade models, Hua models, Che models, hexagon models, round models, pattern models, etc. with Yin characters "Dong San"; tile tiles are divided into plate tiles and tube tiles, most of which are cloud shaped round tiles; in addition, there are five baht coins, half Liang coins, iron slag, etc. It was built in the Eastern Zhou Dynasty and continued until the Northern Wei Dynasty. Yuwang temple, also known as yuwangtai and Qingtai, is a modern building on the square rammed earth platform in the southwest corner of the town. It was destroyed in the war in the Republic of China. According to local legend, Qingtai was built during the reign of Xia Yu. It was the place where Tu Zhi's family looked up to his husband and where Xia Jie played.
Hengyang Yuwang City
"Yuwangcheng" is located opposite Guangji temple in Hengshan. There is a stone tablet with three characters of "yuwangcheng", which used to be called "yuwangcheng". It is said that this is the place where Xiayu stayed when he came to Nanyue for flood control. When it comes to Xia Yu's visit to Nanyue, there is also a fairy tale.
It is said that Xiayu did not succeed in flood control for seven years, but he still made persistent efforts and worked hard. He heard that the Yellow Emperor once buried a treasure book with gold slips as pages and jade as characters in Nanyue. He knew that this book would be of great help to water control, but he didn't know where it was. So he came to Nanyue, killed a white horse, prayed to heaven and earth, and then fell down on the mountain. Soon, he dreamt of an immortal who called himself cangshui messenger and told him where the book was. When I woke up, I found the book. According to the instructions in the book, he led the broad masses of working people to dig mountains and open stones, dredge the congestion, and lead the flood that harmed the people into the rivers and flow back to the sea. Later, people called the peak where Dayu killed Baima for sacrifice "Baima peak", the peak where the treasure book was dug up "Jinjian peak", and the stone tablet "Yuwang tablet".
Before Dayu, it is said that Yao and Shun of the five emperors also visited Nanyue. The so-called Shun temple, shunxigou and shungou are all relics of anshangfeng Shun.
Because "yuwangcheng" worships piluzhana Buddha, later generations call him "piludong", which has been used for a long time. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, more than ten kilometers wide and deep. It is a long and narrow valley in the mountains. It is shaped like a cave, because it is named after the cave. The quality of Yunwu Tea produced in Nanyue is the best. It is green in color, strong in taste and fragrant, and is praised by people. As early as the Tang Dynasty, it was listed as a tribute tea treasure. Forestry departments make full use of the superior natural conditions here to develop Yunwu Tea production and establish Nanyue tea farm.

In the Sui Dynasty, Yong'an county was established. In the first year of the Tang Dynasty (885), Zhou and county were moved here (now Yuwang City, Huangzhou District, Huanggang City). Commonly known as the Queen City, it is said that it was the fiefdom of the daughter of the king of Chu, and later homonymous for the city of King Yu. It was destroyed in the war in 338. Outside the four corners of the city wall, there is a rammed he shaped platform with an area of about 150-250 square meters and a residual height of 5-8 meters. One of the platforms outside the southwest corner is known as "Wangfu pier". The moats on the three sides outside the city are still indistinct. Inside and outside the city, there are a large number of tombs, water wells and ash pits of the spring and Autumn period, Warring States period and Han Dynasty. It is one of the well preserved ancient city sites of Eastern Zhou Dynasty in Eastern Hubei.
