Tarim Agricultural University
On September 29, 1958, the Party committee of the first agricultural division decided to establish an agricultural college in Alar Reclamation Area in the upper reaches of the Tarim River, and named it Tarim River Agricultural University.
On October 15, 1958, the school was officially established, with the specification of county league level, the nature of half farming and half reading, and under the leadership of the first agricultural division.
At the end of March 1960, Comrade Wang Zhen, then Minister of the Ministry of agriculture and reclamation, came to inspect the University, proposed to change the Agricultural University into an agricultural university, and inscribed the name of "Tarim Agricultural University".
In April 1960, the Party committee of XPCC submitted a document to the Party committee of the autonomous region, requesting that the former Tarim River Agricultural University of the first agricultural division be renamed Tarim River Agricultural University.
On June 17, 1960, the Party committee of the autonomous region approved that the former Tarim River Agricultural University should be gradually expanded into a comprehensive university and named Tarim Agricultural University.
On April 21, 1961, the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps ordered that "the Tarim River Agricultural University of the first agricultural division should be renamed Tarim Agricultural University of the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps" and still be managed by the first agricultural division.
In October 1962, the Ministry of agriculture of the people's Republic of China decided that Tarim Agricultural Reclamation University should be under the leadership of BINGTUAN, and the standard should be upgraded to brigade level, which should be managed by the first agricultural division.
In 1965, the XPCC Party committee appointed Comrade Xiao you'en, deputy political commissar of the first agricultural division, to concurrently serve as secretary of the Party committee of Tarim Agricultural Reclamation University.
From its establishment in 1958 to the cultural revolution, Tarim Agricultural University has two undergraduate majors of Agronomy and sericulture, as well as specialized majors of Finance and accounting, water conservancy, agricultural machinery, garden, animal husbandry, soil and fertilizer, fruit trees and so on, with a total of 43 graduating classes in nine sessions. At the beginning of the cultural revolution, schools were disbanded and teachers were decentralized.
In May 1966, when the "Cultural Revolution" began, the school set up a nine member leading group for the Cultural Revolution headed by Comrade Zhong Shengzhe. In August of the same year, the leading group was forced to dissolve.
On December 16, 1966, the Party committee of the first agricultural division was transferred to 14 political commissars, Comrade Hu Taichang, as the Deputy Secretary of the Party committee of the University.
On October 28, 1968, the provisional Party committee of the first agricultural division approved the establishment of the "Revolutionary Committee" in Tarim Agricultural University, which was composed of Li Fumin and other five people.
On April 26, 1969, the Party committee of the first agricultural division decided to abolish the organizational system of Tarim Agricultural Reclamation University. The original site of the University was changed to the Mao Zedong thought study class of the first agricultural division. Except for a small number of teachers who stayed in the study class, most of them were assigned to the regiments on the South Bank of the Tarim River to participate in labor.
In May 1975, the Party committee of the Autonomous Region decided to establish Nanjiang Agricultural College in Bachu county.
On December 13, 1975, Aksu Prefecture Party committee decided to set up Tarim teaching center of Nanjiang Agricultural College at the original site of Tarim Agricultural Reclamation University, with the specification of county level, and began to recruit workers, peasants and soldiers (ordinary class). The Aksu prefectural Party committee appointed Comrade Liu Kaiyuan and Comrade Chen Zixiang as deputy secretaries of the Party committee of the teaching point. There are Department of Agronomy, Department of water conservancy engineering, Department of agricultural machinery, Department of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine.
In March 1976, 109 workers, peasants and soldiers of the first phase were recruited. In October of the same year, 116 students were enrolled in the second phase. By the end of 1977, eight ordinary classes were enrolled in five majors, including agronomy, water conservancy, fruit trees, agricultural machinery and animal husbandry.
On August 26, 1976, the Party committee of the autonomous region issued the document No. 38 of new party character, which decided to cancel the Tarim teaching site of Nanjiang Agricultural College and restore the Tarim Agricultural University under the leadership of Aksu region.
In November 1976, the Aksu prefectural Party committee appointed Guo Xinzhi as the deputy secretary and President of the University Party committee, and Su Laiman dawuti as the deputy secretary and vice president of the University Party committee.
On August 13, 1977, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China held a national conference on college enrollment, abolishing the practice of selecting and sending students, implementing the national unified examination and selecting the best students.
At the end of 1977, the national college entrance examination was resumed, and the autonomous region issued 203 enrollment plans to our university, enrolling four undergraduate majors of Agronomy, irrigation and water conservancy, animal husbandry, and fruit and forestry.
On March 10, 1978, the opening ceremony of the first (77th) college entrance examination was held. By the 40th anniversary of the founding of the University in 1998, the university has 8 undergraduate majors and 20 junior college majors, including 9 department level teaching institutions, such as Department of Agronomy, Department of landscape architecture, Department of animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, Department of agricultural engineering, Department of water conservancy, Department of basic courses, Department of basic biology, teaching and research section of Marxism Leninism, and teaching and research section of physical education, with a total of 209 junior college graduates in 20 sessions.
On December 28, 1978, with the approval of the State Council, the Ministry of education restored Tarim Agricultural University as an ordinary agricultural university.
In October 1979, the school was upgraded to prefecture level, under the leadership of the autonomous region.
In January 1982, the Education Department of the autonomous region issued a document (njgz No. 01) announcing that our university is one of the first batch of institutions of higher learning with the right to confer bachelor's degree determined by the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council.
In June 1982, the state restored the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps, and the school was under the leadership of the Corps.
In June 1983, the former Ministry of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery decided and submitted it to the State Council for approval. Tarim Agricultural University implemented the dual leadership system of the Ministry of agriculture, animal husbandry and fishery and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, with the Ministry as the main leadership. Since then, the school has become a college under the Ministry of agriculture, animal husbandry and fisheries, with funds allocated by the Ministry and daily affairs managed by Xinjiang production and Construction Corps.
In June 1998, the University carried out the teaching reform, reorganized the teaching units according to university disciplines, and established the College of plant science and technology, College of animal science and technology, College of agricultural engineering, Department of humanities, Department of public courses, and College of adult education.
In September 1999, the University established a higher vocational and technical college.
In July 2001, the Department of Humanities and the Department of public courses were abolished and the College of Arts and Sciences was established.
In 2003, he obtained the right to confer master's degree. In September of the same year, the school of information engineering and the school of economics and management were established.
Tarim University
In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of education, Tarim Agricultural University changed its name to Tarim University.
In 2017, it became a "Model University of deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform of the Ministry of education". It was originally a university directly under the Ministry of agriculture, now it is under the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps, and now it is jointly built by the central government and Xinjiang production and Construction Corps.
In May 2018, Tarim University was successfully approved as a doctoral degree awarding unit and a doctoral degree authorization point for biology first-class discipline. So far, Tarim University has achieved a "zero" breakthrough in the construction of doctoral degree awarding units and authorization points. Tarim University has also been granted four first-class master's degree authorization points in Marxist theory, chemical engineering and technology, animal husbandry, agriculture and forestry economic management, and two professional master's degree authorization points in education and engineering. Tarim University has one first-class discipline doctoral degree authorization point, eight first-class discipline master degree authorization points and five professional master degree authorization points.
On September 13, 2018, the opening ceremony of Shihezi University Medical College (Tarim University) branch was held in Tarim University.

According to the official website of the University in June 2018, the university has 11 colleges (College of plant science, College of animal science, College of water conservancy and construction engineering, College of mechanical and electrical engineering, College of humanities, College of economics and management, College of life science, College of information engineering, College of history and philosophy, College of continuing education, College of Higher Vocational Technology), 55 undergraduate majors (1 major in Agricultural Science) 7, 21 in engineering, 17 in Humanities and Social Sciences).

At present, the university has 4 first-class master's degree programs, 19 second-class master's degree programs, 3 professional master's degree programs and 4 provincial key disciplines.
